    Good morning!

Enjoy your visit to the dentist, Gaga! On the edge of my seat waiting to hear about the goody bag! LOL! 😉

About ready for my classes…we are weaving rugs today on a wooden loom for their dolls today. Packing up all my yarn was a massive project because…I am one of those teachers that likes to present lots of options for color, etc. (Meaning that I take way to much stuff into the classroom). Anyway, I wish I could hold the classes in my home instead of toting my supplies back and forth each week, but that isn’t really an option. Yesterday, I got a bit caught up into making some of the rugs myself (instead of doing other prep). It is so relaxing & fun!

Dee – Is there a wedding in your family? Just wondering since you are making wedding soup. I never heard of it until you mentioned it. You will have to tell us if it was worth the trouble!

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Good Morning !

    Farmers Day !

moms.. happy that you were able to go on a getaway and arrived back home safely
I am sure you need a day to catch up on WW and be glad you don’t need to go out with bad weather in your area. Keeping an eye out here too… predicting some potentially bad weather… wind gusts up to 50 mph today.. ? Snow but rainy here this morning. Do you need any snowflake items ?

Sheba… Jury still out on the new dentist… No goody bag !! Consultation and x rays.. Not sure he is what I am looking for… I am interested in general dentist but he seems to talk about all the accolades of his expertise… At my age just looking for someone to clean and check… fix simple issues such as fillings.
Going back next week for cleaning and replace a filling … Will see how it goes and what his skills are. then will decide… Since retiring I have no dental insurance and want to make my own decisions on what things are important and what things are not vital to good dental health.. I am certainly not looking for aesthetic fixes but would like to have my own teeth until the time comes.

dee.. I wouldn’t be able to eat venison either ! Beef and chicken and rarely pork
I don’t really eat much meat but not a vegetarian either.
Still trying to beat Dogbeard !

Love the cookies snowing windows ! Snowmen really cute… seems like those prizes are a bit rare… but have been able to get a couple of them.
Looks like it will be Husky Day for Deluxe Day tomorrow ! Not very interesting in my opinion.

April.. I am sure you are happy with both the Lions game and Michigan game last night ! Hearing speculation that Harbaugh will be heading somewhere as NFL coach… I guess we’ll have to wait and see…Need to check about Bellchick’s status… .Wondering if he was let go… Can’t believe that 6 Superbowl wins isn’t enough to keep your job !!

    Hey to all

    Have a good day !

gaga – i wish i could send you to the dentist i go to – just right from what you are saying – we have ended up with the whole family at the same dentist

i have a certain kind ornament that is a nightmare to store – and i do a whole big tree with just those (so i have a lot of them) . . . i’ve been thinking about asking my brother in law to create a cardboard storage piece to put in my tubs, but i just saw on the today show that they recommended using red solo cups hot glued to cardboard for ornament storage/protection, and now i’m wondering if my ornaments would fit in the cups . . . i might have to investigate that once younger ds goes & i’m looking for distractions . . . just in case anyone else needs to hear that idea too 🙂

    Good morning, ALL!

Gaga – Not impressed with the new dentist! NO GOODY BAG?????? lol

Dee – I don’t mind venison. My dh used to hunt and I had to fix it many times. It helped feed our family when we had a very tight budget. But the older the deer the tougher the meat, so the last one that my dh got wasn’t all that great. That was over a dozen years ago and he hasn’t hunted since.

Dee – as far as the classroom projects – everything is doll-sized!

For my latest personal project it was a much larger project! So I can finally tell ALL of you what that project was! Starting in late June, my youngest dd and I started on a quilt as a surprise for my oldest dd. I probably would have never started the project if youngest dd had not helped with the process. We used fabric scraps from pendants that were used at oldest dd’s wedding over 6 years ago. We had to rip the seams, pre-wash the fabric, cut three inch squares, and decide on a quilt design. Although we started with the “City-Scapes” design on paper, we switched to “Trip Around the World”. We were able to cut out all the squares (for a full-sized quilt – size of guest bed) before my youngest dd went back to Spain in mid-August.

From that point on, it was my baby! I sewed all the pieces together by machine, including the borders. I hired someone to do the machine quilting design (attaching the back, batting & front together) and make the binding and attach it to one side by machine. I then had to attach the binding to the back of the quilt by hand. I finished it on Christmas Eve morning. The gift was given the following Friday. My youngest dd was on video call and got to be part of the surprise! And was my oldest dd ever surprised and pleased!

I am going to try to attach a picture in the next post, but if it doesn’t work, I may need your assistance, Moms!

The full-sized quilt is displayed on a queen-sized bed….It is almost big enough to be a queen. I ran out of fabric (from our scraps from six years ago) so I had to keep it to the present size. Some of the squares are pieced together with smaller scraps to make a 3 inch square. I was short about 30 squares (with the present quilt) that I had to create to finish it! I had a friend help me with that! I had another friend who helped me via phone with the borders as that was the most difficult part of the project for me.

This is the first quilt that I have ever made. And I am very happy with it!

We actually cut 3 1/2 inch squares to make a 3 inch square for the quilt. (1/4″ seams).

Sheba… The quilt is beautiful ! What a treasure ! I can’t image how many hours went into making it for your dd… I am sure will love it and cherish it for years to come. You are very talented… can’t image the time and patience in making it.
    Thanks for sharing the picture.

moms.. It is really difficult finding just the right doctor/dentist after so many years..
I will not stay with the practice if I am not satisfied with how I perceive his skill level after Monday… Hopefully all will go well and be in/out without any problems.

Thanks for posting the picture, Moms!

I didn’t keep track of the hours, but it was in the hundreds……I wanted to tell you all why I was so busy, but had to keep it secret. I am also slow at whatever I do…..I think and re-think and tear out things if they aren’t the way I want them.

Dee, I prefer sewing by hand, but it would have taken longer to do it that way.

I like to give my towels to the SPCA. I have a few that probably should go.
