moms-I am going on very little sleep and also have not really been paying attention so I am of no help, sorry.
Do I want the ponies? Do I want the perky penguin? Have not been in the mood to buy anything at e-store recently.
dd is sick, which is no surprise after being worn down. She has 2 exams this week, so she emailed her professor to see if she can get an extension on one and will take both on Friday. Next week is Spring Break for her, so at least she can rest up. The weather gets much cooler and rainy, so not sure how much beach time they will get in.
Spent the morning cleaning this place. I don’t know where the cleaning fee goes, but it’s not into cleaning. Still need to vacuum and clean the floors. So many places we have stayed are just barely cleaned, crazy.
We did shop at Kroger and the Piggly Wiggly for the first time yesterday. The only reason I even know about the Piggly Wiggly is from the Steel Magnolias movie, so had to go in, and we don’t have Kroger. Seemed pricey to me and we shop at Whole Foods mostly. Do any of you have The Fresh Market? It’s also pricey, but their deals are really good. We love the greek pizza from there and every Thursday they are on special for $5. That, the Old Florida chips and Cali Coffee are the things I wish I could take back to the West Coast with me.
* Update, professor said no to her request so she is off to University Health. She needs a doctor’s note to postpone. Not sure what they will say, we shall see.
cmpets – hope the university will recommend she keep her germs to herself! sorry she is experiencing this – i really thought we would do better after covid
terrible you have to spend all that time cleaning 🙁 i would want to know if it was my place because the owner might be paying a service & not getting their money’s worth
Piggly Wiggly LOL I know there was one in Port St. Joe last time we went to Cape San Blas – i LOVED fresh market’s deal on chicken lady parts on tuesdays when we used to live close to it – most places at the coast are more pricey aren’t they???
We have told some of the owners, and usually they send someone immediately to remedy whatever the cleaning issue is, but this is a historic home and I think they “clean” it themselves, as it is their home they live in part time. But clearly they have different standards of what they consider clean. The toilet was not remotely clean. The shower liner was pink from the hard water build up, and the tub/shower needed to be scrubbed. I bleached the whole bathroom basically, it’s clean now. lol The list could go on and on, but after spending the last 2 days cleaning, it feels better.
And hopefully the health center gives her a z-pak or whatever she needs to get over it quickly. Mostly she still needs sleep. Normally I would tell her to suck it up, she knew about the exam before all of this, but her emotions are still high, so we just said if she had to take the test tomorrow, so be it, ask about extra credit or whatever to make up for a low grade.
Ah, Amy to the rescue. Love this community. Thank you from all of us!
dd got her doctor’s note, exam has been postponed until Tuesday after break. They told her to take sudafed if needed, so just stuffiness, so that part is good.
Hope everyone has a good night. Will check in tomorrow.
Amy.. thank you for the codes ! You are always so helpful with keeping us all updated…much appreciated !
cmpets..How unfortunate that you are having to clean the place which are staying ! Must be so annoying to walk in and have to clean ! Happy your daughter was able to get a note from the Health Center and postpone her exam.
moms… Recently saw a special on cable about how Glee got started and how grueling their schedules were… Heartbreaking about the deaths of three of the main actors… so young and talented…still affects me to think about it.
dee… Hope all is getting back to normal in your neighbor following the recent storm !
Early appointment but hope to check back a bit later. Have a good day !
gaga—I understand about complicated feelings about your mom. Or, at least in my own way. Grief does a number on us all at times. I feel very guilty sometimes that I didn’t do enough for my aunt before she died. My aunt could lay some mighty big guilt trips. Families are hard and complicated. I hope you know that you did everything over and above for your mom and you were a wonderful daughter. If she wasn’t able to acknowledge that, it doesn’t change the fact that you did everything in your power for her. ((hearts & hugs)) Happy I could help with the skills cards! Glad you were able to have breakfast with your bro from GA last Sunday. It’s helpful to talk about the loss of your pet with someone who understands. I’m glad he had such a good vet, it make a really difficult day a little easier. Glad you got to hug himself before he leaves for his trip. Hope he has a great time. I would love to have a Murphy’s Irish stout straight from the tap in Scotland. The ‘dig’ in Poland sounds fascinating! The deer have been very active the last few days. Stella loves running to the fence and watch them scatter. She rarely barks, just likes watching them run. One doe was a little curious the other day and came back to the fence to check out Stella. Stella just sat there eyes fixed on her. After a few minutes Stella ran to the fence again and the doe took off.
sheba—You are so welcome! I knew I had a few of those things on your list, just had to go digging around for them.
moms—What an awesome vacay with your ds! DH and I and some friends did a weekend in NYC a long time ago. Had the best time too. The pizza and bagels were amazing. All the food was awesome, would love to go back but not sure I could get DH to that again. He hates big cities. He’s a country boy at heart. We couldn’t get very close to the 9/11 site, they were just starting to build the memorial when we were there. But wow, you could feel the emotion and heaviness even from where we were. Yes, it was very impactful for all of us too remembering that awful day and the weeks after.
dee—Glad you had a generator for the storm. Sounds like it was a doozy! Your birds sound so pretty. Looking forward to the humming birds coming back soon.
Miracle—So great to hear everything is going well. Happy to be somewhat helpful with the skills cards. 🙂 Will continue with the good thoughts and prayers.
cmpets—Oh no, is it a palmetto bug? Glup. Nope, no can do. My friend lived in GA before she moved to FL and she told me all about those bugs. It’s basically a flying “male anatomy” roach. Chicago pizza is really good, but the pizza we had in NYC was amazing. I want to go back too now. Hope your dd is feeling better and glad she was able to get a note for the extension. I loved Fresh Market when we lived in Cincy! That’s terrible you had to clean that whole place yourself.
Amy—Thank you for the codes!
Couldn’t open the treasurer chest on Sunday, but was able to open the one yesterday and got an eye patch!
Just when I felt like I was getting caught up, HA…the ‘cheaper’ shower fix didn’t work like we thought it would. Plumbers are coming next Monday to tear out tiles and redo everything. The plumber, DH and myself were in the bathroom to look at the shower and talk about what was going on and come to find out, DH was cranking on handle so hard to get it to shut off, it striped the gears inside. The plumber was laughing so hard he could barely contain himself. I was looking at my DH like ‘really…REALLY, so this whole time it’s been YOU!’ The shower handle is really old, so I know it’s not really his fault. By the end we are all laughing, what else can you do? 🙂
Just wanted to share that the reason we have been so busy is because we have been “used” car shopping! Found one that I liked on Sunday and now we are the owners of a 2017 Kia Sorento EX. White with gray interior. It looks like new and I am so excited about it. We did a lot of research on it before we finalized the deal today. Still keeping my van (no A/C) for the dd to use when she comes to visit us this summer for a month from overseas.
qos-Congrats on the new car, so exciting!!! We really need to start thinking about replacing ours in the next year. I have not wanted to car shop due to the limited inventory, but it’s inevitable at some point. Ours is a 2007, but still runs well and been such a great car, especially on this adventure, plenty of space.
dee-The bird watching sounds wonderful, glad they are enjoying your feeder.
April-We think it’s a mummified dead cicada stuck on the screen. It’s high up, so hard to tell exactly. But it hasn’t moved, so thinking we may flick it off from this side with a shoe. And NOPE NOPE NOPE to the Palmetto bugs, which yes, are roaches, why don’t they call them that??? We have dealt with more than our fair share while traveling around Florida. The last one while we were staying near the Space Center was HUGE. Saw it in the middle of the night and woke up dh to take care of it. Will NOT miss those. They are everywhere and I hate roaches. I am the one who takes care of all of the spiders, and I am good with that.
And we have wasps here too. Sprayed today. I am over the bugs.
topazz – holy smokes i can’t imagine having that much snow!
cmpets – i don’t like bugs at all & we do have plenty here in georgia – yuck
qos – congrats on the new car! sounds lovely with the gray interior
dee – i knew they were not really purple, but idk if i’ve ever seen one in real life – the yellow ones are pretty – i do see blue herons on the river sometimes & we have an owl sometimes, but i don’t really know birds . . .
April.. thank you for the kind words about my mom.. really helped and I just need to let it all go ! Her one year anniversary is coming up later this month and I think that I have been thinking about her more than I normally do. Your aunt was lucky to have you in her life and hopefully thankful for all you did. The one good thing since my mom’s passing is that as a family we now are better at keeping in contact with each other. I think as we have gotten older we have realized that we need to appreciate being a family and have no regrets about putting our disagreements behind and stick together ! I am really sorry about your plumbing issue ! Sounds like a big project and I am sure expensive. It was good that you and dh were able to laugh about the situation and hopefully the repair will be done without any further problems ! I don’t know if you have ever seen a piebald deer in your neighborhood but they are so beautiful and very unusual. There are two in the area that people have posted pictures of and I was fortunate to have seen one !
moms.. Today is Farmers Day in Next ! Has your older ds headed back ? I am sure he took with him some treasured memories of this trip with you and all the good times you shared.
dee.. I love watching the birds too. The purple finch is really pretty. I have not seen one here. We do have a local eagles nest which has a live cam in place watching them as they are sitting on three eggs which should hatch early April. Find them very interesting how they share in the responsibility of keeping the eggs warm..trade off throughout the day while the other is out I would guess searching for food.
Sheba.. Congrats on your new car ! Inventory here remains very limited with both new and preowned.. Happy you found one you love ! I am sure your dd will appreciate having a vehicle to drive while she is here visiting !
Topazz.. Happy the snow has finally stopped in your area ! ” Heavy snow” is predicted here for tomorrow but we’ll see. I am not going to worry about it right now.. hopefully will get by without much snowfall !
cmpets.. Bugs sure are annoying and not much fun to deal with ! Although I don’t like them … I would prefer bugs to the alternative which I have mentioned many times in previous posts ! Enjoy your time in GA ! Hope you get to St. Simon’s Island !
New NEXT challenges starting today.. All seem doable but Ant Mania not my favorite game. Farmer will has potatoes for sale today ! Two locks in Treasure Chest… a no go for me !
dee.. congrats on three locks ! does dh eat peeps ? Pure sugar ! I guess you would consider those junk food ! I was lucky to finish arte in one try but I kind of like that game. Good luck at Kroger.. having an issue with refrigerator… repairman can’t come till Wednesday so I will be hesitant to stock up until I know if I need to replace it.
How wonderful that you figured out the three locks, Dee! And happy shopping!
April, I’m sure you will be glad to have the plumbing issue resolved. And isn’t nice to be able to laugh about these things? It kinda’ helps to decrease the tension!
I appreciate all that was shared on families (April & Gaga).
Gaga – thinking of you as the one year mark comes up marking the loss of your mom. I can’t imagine life without my parents, but I know that some day I will be having to deal with it. One of my observations when people lose a loved one is that often one feels guilt over not doing enough. I saw my m-i-l go through that after the loss of her dh. And I have seen others feel that way, too. I think it is because we realize how much we took for granted. Life is busy and we all do what we can (at least in your case, I know that you did). So I think guilt is a normal part of grieving, but it shouldn’t be the dominating thought. I know that your mom knew that you loved and cared for her by all that you did and by being present for her. ♥
Cmpets – I certainly am not a fan of bugs, especially the ones that bite or sting. And I agree with Gaga – you should try to fit in a visit to St. Simon’s Island. I really enjoyed my visit there in 2021. There is a museum next to the lighthouse that I spent a lot of time in. I learned so many new things.
Moms – That big hawk should go to Gaga’s territory to help with eliminate the population of “Mickey’s” near Gaga.
I had to look out my window first thing this morning to see if the new car was still there! It seems like a dream. I will get to drive it a lot today when I go to pick up lil’ girl at her school. Whoa to me if I call it daycare. LOL! Dh transferred her car seat to the new car. I will need to transfer the mirror and the books for her to look at.
Topazz – I can’t believe all the snow you got! I can’t imagine having a car buried so deeply in snow!
Miracle – My thoughts & prayers are with you! Hope all is going well for you!
Cmpets – As far as the car….I went from a 2007 to a 2017. So an upgrade for sure. It is so hard shopping for one and everything is SO expensive. Would love a brand NEW car, but that was out of the question. But my car looks like new inside and out, so I am very happy and content. AND mostly glad that it is over. I lost so much sleep “shopping” online and reading articles about the pros and cons. Hoping to catch up on sleep.
Okay – as far as NEXT – my score was 1250 at the end of Week 2. I am not sure if that represents all the possible points or not. I did finish all the goals in Week 1 and 2, and think that I did the dailies every day. In my granddaughter’s account (now mine, too), her score was 1230, so I must have missed two of the dailies because I met all of the weekly goals on her account.
my mom asked me to take her out to lunch today, so off i go
gaga – i think we all have times we look back in life and question ourselves & our relationships, but you were loving & giving & caring towards a parent who was hard to love at times – she certainly put you through some challenges, and you were still dedicated to helping her & you did it even though others would not and did not – that should give you peace ♥ – you can not change anyone else, but you can only look at what you have done, and you did your best ♥
It snowed again today for a few hours. We have lived here 20 years and have never gotten this much snow. It is at least 3 feet. We have snow tires on the car so that helps. The town where hubby works and the boys go to school is in the valley so the main issue is just getting the last few miles home.

Hope you all have a good day !
Miracle… Keeping you in my thoughts .

I was lucky to finish arte in one try but I kind of like that game.
Good luck at Kroger.. having an issue with refrigerator… repairman can’t come till Wednesday so I will be hesitant to stock up until I know if I need to replace it.

Good morning!
And I need to figure out what is for dinner…….

In my granddaughter’s account (now mine, too), her score was 1230, so I must have missed two of the dailies because I met all of the weekly goals on her account.

good morning
my mom asked me to take her out to lunch today, so off i go
gaga – i think we all have times we look back in life and question ourselves & our relationships, but you were loving & giving & caring towards a parent who was hard to love at times – she certainly put you through some challenges, and you were still dedicated to helping her & you did it even though others would not and did not – that should give you peace ♥ – you can not change anyone else, but you can only look at what you have done, and you did your best ♥

It snowed again today for a few hours. We have lived here 20 years and have never gotten this much snow. It is at least 3 feet. We have snow tires on the car so that helps. The town where hubby works and the boys go to school is in the valley so the main issue is just getting the last few miles home.
