dee.. sounds like you have a pretty good start on your genealogy search ! Shouldn’t be too difficult to get your mom’s birth certificate… I guess it depends on how badly you want to know your family’s past and how much time you are willing to give it.
I hope you are able to check some of of your things off your to do list.
I hope you are able to find your forever home ! That is my wish for you !
When you do… the closets will get cleaned ! The rest of the things you can do as you go along.
moms… Hope your ds arrived safely back on campus ! Having him head back to school is another emotional adjustment for you ( hearts ) ..
My sister and I were able to get himself his car and get him organized and groceries done before we said our good byes to him… for his final semester at OSU ! The other kids had not arrived back yet so the house was quiet..
It was a long day and seems to take a lot out of me ! My brother reminded me that ” you are older now” ! and I guess I don’t like to think about that !
As far as your mom telling her cousin’s daughter that she is adopted would be opening a can of worms ! ( circumstances of adoption .. finding out she has siblings..is birth mother still living ? ) and may cause much emotional turmoil and angst… If it were me… I would want to know.
My former husband’s brother was adopted and was never told.
He found his birth certificate while cleaning out her apartment after she passed away…Needless to say he was shocked and wondered why he was never told. I think he was in his thirties when he found out…
Miracle.. sorry you are still struggling with recovering… and agree that you should take as much time as you need to gain your strength back before returning to work in full capacity… Doesn’t sound like they have much empathy ! First and foremost take care of yourself… sounds like you have a bit of a long road to go to complete your treatment.. thoughts and prayers continue for you !
Sheba… Hope you can find some time to catch up in WW today as it sounds like you are headed back to work tomorrow and all the preparation involved in planning your lessons ! Have you been able to get what you need from the Snowflakes ?? Love the shelf for some reason…and the rug.
Alex.. Sorry to hear about all the problems following your teeth extractions..

Regarding adoption, if it was me I would want to know. If I was the one who adopted, I would want to be transparent about it. But it is hard to know why some want to keep it secret. I’m sure they have their reasons. It seems like the adoptive parent should be the one to tell. But how shocking it would be to find out after the adoptive parents died…..like in Gaga’s story that she shared. Adoption is such a loving thing, yet it is so complicated. Someone who really wants a child is able to take child into their home and provide love and security. It also means that someone was given up by the birth parent and the thought of being “unwanted” is so hurtful. Yet sometimes the birth parent feels that they are making the loving choice due to their situation. I know you all know that…I’m just processing out loud.

Gaga – You are not going to believe this! But when I try to reach 70 and above on Cake it Up it is almost impossible. Tonight Sparky challenged me to a score in the 40’s and I thought I can do that. I got a score of 78! Why???? I mean, I’m not really complaining, but when I try to get that score I cannot. I definitely can not succeed on my touchscreen. But on my PC I have more of a chance.

Hello-
Clearly I need to go back and read, so will do that to catch up.
Made it to the next destination, long day of driving. Much busier here down South. The Highway was 7 lanes at one point, more trash on the side of the road and grafitti (which we have not seen a lot of thus far) felt like home. hahaha
More people, so makes sense. Honestly, I could not believe how much grafitti was in parts of LA when we just were back. Was not like that, or at least as bad when we left in August.
Ran around with dd yesterday, got her car washed, groceries and some stuff for her room. Said our goodbyes, won’t see her until March, her schedule is full these next 2 months.
If the thumping music outside ever stops, I am going to sleep. Not sure how this particular area is going to work out, will have to see it during the day, but the place is nice at least.

The snowflakes are being stingy with the carpets and the side tables.
I am adopted and was told when I was young. They adopted another child a few years later. I was also told not to speak of it. It made me feel ashamed. My extended family treated us like we didn’t belong. I have always had abondment issues. Still, I think not knowing is worse.

And aw.. I was adopted when I was a baby & I’m okay with that. We don’t know what happened, but I’ve found peace & comfort knowing God was there all that time & knew me before I was born. Plus I have amazing & supportive parents & the best friends ever! Aww, I’m sory Topaz. =( I can’t imagine.. not knowing is definitely worse. People always guessed the other parent was Asian, lol.

moms. thank you for retrieving my comment yesterday ! I think it must be operator error on my part for some reason… Hope your son arrived back on campus ! There is a show on the Learning Channel called Long Lost Family… have seen all of episodes many times… features men and women who have been adopted and are searching for birth mothers/fathers… Usually keep a box of tissues handy as many are reunited with their birth families . Love the host and hostess of the show as they were both adopted as well. I am on the other spectrum as we tried for years to adopt a baby… heartbreaking..stressful …and emotionally devastating… but for whatever reason it was not meant to be. I hope that whatever decision your mom makes works out.

Sheba.. Good Luck today as classes resume ! I usually do the Sparky challenge as well… and have gotten enough points for his Cake it Up challenge… but the Season Challenge to get 100 points once or 75 five times impossible… Sparky usually asks me for Jumbleberry or Lily Pad which are my favorites !
Topazz.. I am so sorry that you were made to feel ashamed and are still struggling with abandonment issues… I guess there are people who were not to be adoptive parents… Feel terrible for the kids living through that kind of situation.
Alex… Sounds like you have a wonderful family with loving and supportive parents… not to mention the fact that you consider them best friends !

I was reading this morning about the rookie from Green Bay who was ejected for shoving one the medical staffers who was tending to an injured player ! What an idiot.. particularly in light of the amazing job the medical team did to resuscitate Damar and all of the respect and praise given to them by the whole country.

moms-That is so interesting, that your Mom knows, but no one else. I personally would want to know, especially for basing family health issues. Never thought about that before, but seems important. Ultimately, I guess it’s up to your Mom, you will have to keep us posted.
We are down near West Palm Beach, probably the furthest point we will go. don’t love all of the shells on the beach, but nice to be back in warm water.
Need to start looking in Georgia, I think we head that way mid March. Not sure we will stay here longer, the neighbor’s music is already driving me crazy. The Master shares that wall, so makes things difficult. The host should be stopping by later to turn the water heater temp up. It’s set at 100 degrees, which seems low, water does not get hot enough for us.
Ah the airbnb life-nope would not recommend. lol

when you are born waaaay out in the boonies at that time, you did not call the doctor………….gma found out she was actually two years older than she thought when she applied for a passport. had to get some kind of certifed statement from a midwifes daughter or something……..yep!!!!

CMP– Sounds nice!! We got a camper in 2021 & we travel a lot, so it is pretty nice! Oh my gosh, my parents are sick of AirBnB because of how the company has been treating them lately with one owner trying to charge then even more. There are a lot of nice ones & nice owners though!! I personally like the places with extra snacks, LOL. That sounds annoying that you have to deal with all of that!! DX My mom would hate it if neighbors blared music like that, haha. Georgia is so pretty. I’ve been there about 3 times, last in 2021.
Beautiful in the springtime with all the peaches, ahh!! I sent my grandma a post card & she loved it! She goes to FL for the winter.

gaga—We had a wonderful whirlwind time with my family. Nephew was home from college and all three girls (one in college and two in high school) had their ‘friends’ over for dinner. They wouldn’t admit to having boyfriends. I guess that’s not cool anymore. I was teasing the girls about it. We had a house full and had a blast. Got home yesterday, unpacked and plopped on the couch and watched football the rest of the afternoon. Thanks on the Lions win. Was so happy I got to watch the whole game. So proud and happy for them, as they had already been eliminated from the playoffs but still played to win. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that Packer player shove the Lions trainer. And then another Packer player came up and shoulder checked the Lions trainer too. I thought they both should have been ejected. Especially after what happened with Damar. So uncalled for. Sorry about the Browns loss. Hopefully next year will be better for them. Oh how cool of a name is Hoss for the corso/mastiff pups! Can’t wait to hear about the puppy shower. Glad to hear you got himself all situated back at OSU. I cannot believe this is his last semester! Seems like he started just a year or two ago…time sure does fly.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday!
My first day back to work went well yesterday! I hadn’t told many people why I was out, so not too many questions, which is good. I’ll fill in people as it comes up, but really don’t want it all floating around school. I think I look different enough that someone could figure it out if they were observant enough. Admin told me to take as much time as I need (they’ve been really great), but I have a lot to catch up on, so I don’t feel like I can stay home much longer (although I would love to!) It’s good to feel needed there, and my dr. told me that the faster I could get back to normal, the better I would feel … so we’ll see!
Since were speaking of football … I am a Bengal’s fan, and am hoping for another Super Bowl run … this time successful. I don’t think they have won in my lifetime. They have had such a great season again this year, and I like that new quarterback.
Amazing that so many are adopted. Most people I know have positive stories, but a few, not so well. Life is so unpredictable.
Gotta run and get ready. Takes a lot longer than it used to. 🙂 Have a great day!

April.. So happy you had a great time with your family but especially happy you were home in time to watch the Lions game ! Lots of hype here about potential changes for next season.. I think they fired the Defensive Coordinator and are in search of a new one.. I really don’t understand why we did so poorly… we do have many good players and we were predicted to do so well this year… As we say in Cleveland… There is always next year !
Not sure about the puppy shower… I was texted by a coworker yesterday and she thought that it didn’t seem fair not to have celebrated the last puppy addition to one of the nurses ( eyes rolling up in head and a little steam coming from my ears ).. Feel the other gal has many more resources and can afford lots of bougie stuff for her pup. My friend is such a hard worker.. does not have the same financial resources and just wants a pup to occupy her time and give a good home to… So another co worker and I plan to take her to dinner tomorrow and have goodie bags of our own … Plan on going to a few more pet shops today to find some things for new pup ! Will probably work out just as well.

It doesn’t seem too bad… At least the Arcade challenges are cumulative … works better that way.

We did get fresh coconuts today when the guy was trimming the trees. I hate the coconut water in stores, but OMG fresh is so yummy.
