re christmas
i usually start earlier! at least just picking things up that i see that look neat
mostly stocking stuffers…….so far dd is doing well, but not dh
he is going out of town next week, so i can be sneaky easier.
weird as we have ahot sunny day and all of a sudden a big crack of thunder and it starts pouring!!
we got a half inch in about ten minutes and is finally tapering off….weird tho
but we will take it…….been dry……..BUT corn and soybeans are on track for bumper crops this year……..
off to kroger in the morn, then hoping to make a batch of the oatmeal apple muffins to freeze/eat/send on road with dh………keep him fibered up to balance out all the junk he will eat as he travels

dee… skeddy always one of my favorites ! Recent phone call from my doctor’s office regarding annual bloodwork strongly encouraging me to delete a few of my most favorite things.. pasta being one and Pepsi the other !
moms.. taking my mom to memorial service today of the last of her high school friends… Has not been able to get into an SUV for quite a long time but she really wants to go…..so we’ll see.
Staff meeting yesterday reveals new computer program on the horizon for nest year ! I have not really mastered this one so I am thankful that I won’t need to start over ! Hospital is extremely busy at this time and threat of mandating us to be “pulled” to other areas is looming… Yet another reason that I am thankful to be ending my nursing career..

dee.. recent dr. visit my lab work showed an upward trend in blood sugar..
told to eliminate carbs and sugar….. which in my language means to cut out my favorites … Pepsi .. pasta… and chocolate ! Change of any kind is really difficult for me… so I am in the process of thinking things over and figuring out what I can do. and still enjoy my life ! LOL ! chickpeas.. lentils .. are things I have not tried.. so we’ll see.
Shorty… have not tried Pepsi zero… but am considering.
moms.. We made it to the Memorial Service however my mom sat in the car with the door open.. The site of the service was locate quite a ways off the road and was uneven and grassy… would not have been able to get her wheelchair to the location…. The four daughters of my mom’s friend who had passed away stopped by the car and were able to chat for a few minutes..
I had purchased a lightweight travel platform quite a while ago to assist her to more easily step into my SUV and she did really well but she had a bad experience getting into my brother SUV and took a big gouge out of her shin so she has refused to try again until yesterday… All in all it worked out and she was happy to have been able to go and see the family.
My cat sitting job is finished .. my sister and her family are due home today !
I know the cat will be happy to see her family home !

gaga = that cookbook i linked was the one i used when BIL visited. the one that had the chicken pot pie recipe…….
and it is easier to change your diet than you think. I altho i have heard that hard core soda drinkers have probs……..i have always been a water fan….dd and dh like teas……
have you ever used agave or stevia sweeteners? my dd will use them when a recipe calls for honey as they are vegan…..

dee. Thank you for the link to chicken pot pie ! Will check it out when I get settled in for the evening… I am truly a hard core pepsi fan… but I will make a very strong effort to cut done.. Usually have 2 cans per day but plan on getting the mini cans and always have a case of water on hand and I do drink quite a bit of it… Make lots of ice tea and use sweetener… I guess I have a really bad sweet tooth as well !! Just got home from grocery store with much healthier choices..
I am going to give it a good try BUT can’t and won’t totally omit Pepsi !
Love pasta salad too !

I’d love to chime in more, but getting ready to leave on another vacation. Hopefully a relaxing one!
I’ve always been a one can soda drinker on Sunday with my traditional Sunday evening popcorn. OR sometimes one extra on pizza night. That said, I hardly even do that anymore. I hardly enjoy soda (pop) anymore.

plus that apple oatmeal muffin thing is mighty fine…..you could do blueberries if you are not an apple person……..
ya gotta retrain your taste buds………takes a bit and it is difficult at first
but once they are trained…………..the thought of a donut makes me gag now
all that fat and sugar………….blech
and once your taste buds are trained, your body will be too
so if you “cheat” you will feel the repercussions!
