    Good morning Gymbo’s friends!

Just stopping by to say a great big THANK YOU to Secret Santakinz!!! What a pleasant surprise it was to open my email and see that today!

Yesterday was kind of bad day. My dear mom and brother both got frustrated with each other and it led to tears… Thankfully I was able to be the sort of “mediator” and smooth things over a bit. I did my best to validate both of their feelings while giving them a little perspective so they wouldn’t be as frustrated with each other. I think mom is still kind of hurt and my brother is a tad annoyed, but really neither of them is wrong or are solely to blame. A lot of it was just circumstance, which we can’t really change right now. On the bright side, a family friend reached out to me and is planning on dropping off a “get well” basket this evening for my mom. So, that will hopefully be something good for her today.

I think that’s all I have for now… I hope everyone here is doing good and staying safe!

    XO,
    Otterkinz

Hmm. I think my comment went in the trash? Not sure what I said… If something could investigate, I’d very much appreciate it! I don’t want to re-type the whole thing and have the same thing happen again.

Hey everybody! Long time, no see!

Thank you Secret Santakinz, for my Mystery Box. I forgot all about Christmas in July! :/

Everything is so awful out there. We happily quarantined in March, thinking this would be like nearly every other country out there, and we’d have this under control by now, and then here we are, and I’ve been having weeks long panic attacks, and husband has been laid off since Feb (unrelated to this covid mess, and he has a huge severance package), but job searching is slow, and within the next 8-10 months, we could be in a situation where we can’t remain in our beautiful home we’ve lived in since Kiddo was 1 month old… We have parents to live with in another state who will be happy to have us, but STILL. It’s hot and I’m upset, depressed, anxious, and afraid.

But for now, we are safe, healthy, and comfortable. I’ve been sewing us better and safer masks (pockets for kleenex liners, nose wires, 3-latyers of cotton), we only do grocery pickup, and Kiddo and I only go to the park to take walks and ride bikes. His birthday happened 3 weeks after we locked down, so we did just a family party with just us, and his friends all Zoom chatted.

I was a little worried to come here, because I know many of our friend sare older, and I was afraid some of you would be ill, or WORSE. Glad to hear that everyone is staying safe and healthy. We still play Webkinz, though not as much. Kiddo has his own account finally, at 4 years old (I got tired of him messing up mine LOL). He wanted to monarch butterfly, and I had enough credits to treat him. 😉 I send him all my extra fun stuff.

Glad everyone is staying safe and healthy. 😀

she needs to do those treatments & probably lie “prone” in her bed when possible to help with her breathing – some I know said that vicks vaporub was a huge help with covid – i was surprised, but added it to my grocery list . . .

dee – apple porkchops sound wonderful! i think i’ll be adding that to my grocery list too

QoS – definitely glad my mom will use technology & doesn’t mess it up too bad LOL every once in a while things magically happen 😉

choco – yes – the Georgia Aquarium in atlanta is wonderful!!! one of my favorite places here

    Good to see everyone!

Otter – How nice that you mom will get a gift basket surprise!
Puma – I’m really sorry about your situation! So stressful! So many uncertainties! On a lighter note, I’m glad that your little one has his own Webkinz account! How cool is that? 🙂
Dee – Recipe looks good! And muffins sound delicious!
Gaga – I am hoping that you hear good news about your mom and that it is something she can easily shake!

Oh – I made the cabbage, bacon & onion recipe that I think I may have gotten from Dee. I usually only collect the ones that I get here, because I’m truly not that interested in cooking. My dh asked me yesterday where I was getting recipes and I said from Dee. But occasionally I see something on FB that looks interesting! Anyway, I think he is glad to see me try out some things.

Trying to remain positive, but my day started out with discouraging thoughts. I also get anxious before trips by myself. Not sure why, because once I’m on the road I’m totally fine!

Oh – someone asked if I was going to be around for Wacky Fest. I think so. Not sure when it starts exactly, but I’m coming home on August 2nd.

Got my codes entered for this month!

I probably won’t peek in again before I leave. Have a great week!

Dee, I’ve been itching for new recipes. I’ll totally use the crockpot pork chops one. Apples and pork chops are one of my favorite combinations. I have a recipe for a super-dense savory pork pie (this thing has like, sausage, ham, something else, AND apples in it) that’s incredible for fall and wintertime. I’ll see if I can scrounge it up from my recipe book and post it.

I’ve been making this one about once a month- not really appropriate “summertime” fare, but the dumplings are great and it’s pure comfort food- it also has 6+ tablespons of butter! O.O https://thenovicechefblog.com/homemade-chicken-and-dumplings-recipe/

Kiddo and I also made these muffins https://cookiesandcups.com/banana-muffins-recipe/ Made with sour cream! WHO KNEW? But they are just SO delicious, I cannot recommend them enough.

Our blueberry crop was BUMPER this year. Kiddo and I picked for nearly 3 weeks straight, and at the peak, we got 8 cups a DAY! I have blueberries oozing out of my freezer. I finally gave up freezing them in 1-2 cup measures for convenience. I just dumped 4 cups (a whole cobbler LOL) in a freezer bag at a time- Cobbler In A Bag!

Gaga, so scary about your mom! From things I’m reading here and there online from survivor support groups, trying to drink about 48oz of water a day, laying on your stomach to help breathing, and wearing a pulse oximeter constantly, and rearranging yourself and your activities to keep your O2 (oxygen) saturation at 90% or above are helpful. If she has an oximeter available, be sure she’s using it as often as she can to make sure she’s able to breathe well enough. (I think you can get easy-to-use ones at a pharmacy.) I bought us one, and sent one to my mom just in case!

Sheeba.. have a safe trip and enjoy your visit with your parents..
Otterkinz.. Your family is lucky to have you to step in and mediate through the trouble time..Hope your mom’s recovery is progressing and she is feeling better each day !
dee.. the recipe looks really delicious ! Thanks for always sharing your menu.
Has given us all some new ideas .
moms.. thanks for the Vick’s tip.. I spoke to the nurse yesterday.. She said they would be notifying family of positive tests.. but I told her that I thought all families should be called ! Would want to know either way so we are not left wondering and waiting for info.. she said she would talk to administration about it… If she doesn’t I will..She also mentioned that my mom is getting up for her daily glass of wine !! Made me chuckle.. She would never miss that no matter how poorly she is feeling ! My brother is flying up from Georgia for one day and will stop in for a window wave !

Puma – glad to see you again! Sorry to hear that things haven’t been going well, I hope things improve soon for you.

    Good Morning !
dee.. Haven’t done much shopping but I did go buy a pair of shorts.. It was a bigger department store… The pair I did not buy went into “quarantine” and place on a special rack.. Not sure what was done with the rack of not purchased clothes.. One store the dressing room was closed… Not sure about shoes.
Great news…All residents tested negative !!! A few employee’s tests are still pending… Spoke to administrator yesterday and will allow residents to go to dining room for meals.. and will allow “patio” visits…which means family outside
resident inside behind a screen door. It ‘s a start !!! He also told me that my Mom left the water running in the kitchen sink and fell asleep in her chair.. Unsure how long she was sleeping but woke up with wet feet !!! One inch of water in her small living room and 90 percent into the bedroom ! Of coarse she was moved and the room was emptied…and ? wet vac’d … Not sure how long she will be displaced… Unfortunately she will not have a phone until she is moved back into her own room..I hate to say it but it made me laugh !
Very relieved about test results and return to eating in the dining room ( one resident per table)
    Hope all is well

Yeah, I dunno guidelines about super minors playing webkinz, or online safety, and this is my first time with a kiddo with an account of anything, but I know WW makes it super safe, so if anyone wants to friend Kiddo, he’s ButterflyBoy. I’ll try to remind him to send happy mail from time to time and such. 😉 And sometimes I remember to get him on for sending events LOL

Got my sewing machine into the shop yesterday. 2 weeks until I get it back. Good thing we have a large stash of masks, but I wanted to make it so every person has one for every day of the week. I’ll be able to get cracking soon.

Got those banana muffins in the oven this morning, and we’re going to a friend’s house shortly- not to playdate, but to borrow their pool! My friend is insanely generous enough to let us use her above-ground pool this summer by ourselves to get some swim time in, since there’s no way we’re going to an aquatic park anytime soon! It’s a wonderful treat, and something we’ve begun looking forward to each week.

Gaga, SO glad about your mom’s results! Do they wear masks at her facility? Some articles I’m reading strongly suggest that mask wearing can even protect the wearer by reducing the amount of viruses they might encounter, and can significantly reduce severity and duration of an infection.

My cousin works in a facility with older people, a memory care facility. So far, she’s staying healthy, and I hope that means everyone else is too!

SO I might be getting a job! A local animal clinic caught sight of my resume on a job posting page and called me- they’re wanting to interview and potentially hire me in their kennel with the boarded animals. It’s $14/hr, and there’ll be no general public (the whole clinic is curbside now- no owners come in with their pets for checks or such), everybody is required to wear surgical masks, AND you can wear additional PPE (cloth masks over the surgical ones, and face shields if you wish), AND it’ll be pretty much just DOGS. I might take it, at that pay- I’ve never made so much per hour in my life. And minimal risk of covid exposure, all the PPE I can wear, and possibly 3 days a week. I can still have lots of time with Kiddo… I’ll call tomorrow and confirm the interview. It won’t save us by a long shot, but it’ll buy us some much needed time, possibly up to an extra 6-12 monthe for husband to find another better-paying job.
