That Flora’s flower pot… that’s a Hamster prize, isn’t it? I got one, so I was pretty excited about that. I love the trellis’ I could always do for a dozen more of them. And really, if I get that black dress, I’m selling it because I think it’s hideous … but that’s me.

OH, in case no one has mentioned it, next Friday is Black Friday in May at the eStore. So, I reserved my spending until then. Hopefully get some really cheap pets to bump the Grands’ accounts.

Dixie – I think it was a hamster prize. I miss the hamsters, I loved playing with them.
Love all the flower prizes and the gemstone tiles and glasses. Guess I’m gonna be playing this a lot. I always forget about peek a newz, so I gotta remember to do this.

What kind of rooms has everyone been making for their Kiwis? I like designing rooms for all of my pets, but I’m not sure what kind of room would work well for a Kiwi. Right now she’s bunking with my rhino and zebra in a safari themed room, but Kiwis don’t live in safaris.

  5. 5 Dixiecup said,

Well, she’d be pretty safe in there. Rhinos and Zebras would smackdown any ol’ wildcat or other predator in a hurry. Kiwis live where leprechauns live. Hills, burrows, dens, etc. They are pretty adaptable.

Gaga, when you see a young potential’s hopes and dreams get dashed to the ground again and again it’s pretty plain to see why some parents ‘grease the palms’ of the powers that be.
Could he study abroad in his chosen field?

Dixiecup….I don’t get it… I guess there are so many bright kids and only so many places that can be filled.. but he is 5th in his class of 325…4.88 GPA.. National Honors Society….never thought some university wouldn’t take him.. he is basically a homebody… doesn’t venture too far out of his comfort zone…is still 17 …so we will wait and see if CM takes him.. Monday…He is most upset that he will be graduating in a few weeks and his future is unsecured..

That is really sad, honestly. With a GPA so high and no prospects in sight. It’s like working without a net. Is it because he is so young? I know it isn’t unheard of, but I should think any institution worth their ink would want a prodigy.

    Heyla all!!

Dee, Skitty Kitty is so pretty!! Is she outdoor, or outdoor/indoor? I always wondered how people keep their outdoor/indoor cats from running away or getting flattened. Some cats just hang in the yard! I don’t know what Clover would do if we ever let her be free range outdoors. She’s learning to chill on her harness and tie-out, though, and we tie her to ME when we’re out and gardening, so she can move about more places.

Moms- yellow peonies! I didn’t know they came in yellow! I just rehomed all of mine, and they were a couple shades of pink. I made room for some anise hyssop, chamomile, and onions.

Dixie- congrats on getting a pet on Trendz! I love your Kiwi’s name- is it a Maori word?

HA room for the Kiwi. Funny Choco- my last few pets are floating around aimlessly. The Kiwi lives in the garage, in the bus, and poor Doodle the lamb is still in the bathtub from her last bath request!

On the home front, our caterpillars are all transformed into chrysilades (plural of “chrylalis”- who knew?), and in the next 10 days we’ll have butterflies! The bluebirds are still nesting, but no eggs yet. We did find a chickadee nest in a bird box that lost it’s roof- when I replaced it, I noticed 2 adult-sized, fully-feathered chicks! They had fledged the next day when I checked on them, and inspection of the (SUPER SOFT AND COMFY) nest revealed 2 unhatched eggs!! SO SMALL and cute! I put them back to keep them safe until we go to Tinkergarten (Nature Preschool) next Wednesday.

Gaga-it is frustrating with colleges. My DS is very bright too.
I could not afford for him to go to certain colleges even though he got accepted & his SAT got him a tuiton scholarshipfor 4 years. All the other expenses were too much plus he started at 17 too so…. He is going to a smaller for his first two years but is supposed to be garanteed a transfer for the second two. But I know people who went to top colleges that make less then some that went to ‘lesser’ ones. Sometimes NOT getting what we want can work out better…

He plans on working after toward masters…..
Dixie-I can definitely see why some would do that but also how others would be so angry and feel cheated. Like if Gaga’s nephew didnt get in because someone else paid/bribed for their kid.

    puma
i trained them to come when i whistle………
    really!
and they know up, down and no………
start with shaking a treat canister (we use the dental whisker lickins) and whistle. when you have her attention, give her a treat.
repeat a couple times a day……until she comes to you when you whistle/shake treat can…………after a week, delete the shaking of the can and just whistle. give her a treat if she comes. after a week, delete treats unless it is a superb moment……for example, you are trying to leave the house and get the cats in quick…….i whistle, they run to me and i will give them treats as a reward to reinforce. I also added a “come” hand gesture that kitten (he is 2) has learned………no treats or whistle…..he is happy to get a pat on the head…….main cat knew a lot more, but he was an only cat for a long time and then dd wanted to train him as she got bigger…..

Thank you for that link Dee!!! I will look it over with my son. He will be a senior next year. I am worried for him. He is so super smart and does amazing on tests, however he is awful at getting work done. We’ve tried everything we could imagine to help him and had to learn that he is the one in control of his own success. We can only push so hard. He wants to be an animal conservationist. I told him to start as a vet tech or something.
Gaga I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. I can only imagine how frustrating.

I haven’t even adopted my kiwi yet. Still trying to name him. He is so super cute!!

Hope everyone has a super day!! Lot of Love!

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!!!!

    Happy Star Wars Day!

gaga – i’m so sorry for your disappointment & frustration! i am glad he has a good “back up” option – his back up school is some student’s dream school, and i agree that sometimes they end up better off, but it still sucks that it isn’t HIS decision to make! he has worked way too hard to feel disappointed, and i hope that passes ♥ i have been worrying about where my oldest will end up as most programs take 10-24 max a year. i know one program that had 8,400 applicants & only accepts 24

SERIOUSLY 24/8400 that’s 0.29% right? less than POINT THREE percent?! holy moly

puma – i know what nursery has the yellow peony if you decide you want one 🙂

it sounds like you & yours are having a great spring!

we have lemon balm, mint, tomato plants – regular & cherry, basil, & cilantro outside

speaking of plants – i have a giant aloe plant inside that is outgrowing its pot – i liked it tiny, but apparently that is a plant that grows despite my black thumb lol

Chinese chicken salad sounds delicious, Dee! Never made one myself, though.

Gaga – So very sorry about your nephew’s bad news! So many pressures! I hope his path becomes clear to him soon.

Moms – Aloe plants are about the only thing that do half way decently in my house. Not a green thumb at all.

DH just put in a walkway along the driveway (the section near my van), so that instead of dirt people have something nice to step on. He started the project last week & is about to bring it to completion.

Puma – never knew the plural of chrysalis.

Dixie – I feel the same way about the black dress. I put it on one of my pets and immediately took it off. It looked terrible!

    Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I hope the fourth was with everyone yesterday. 🙂

gaga—I feel for you and your family. I cannot believe it is this hard to get into college now. Your nephew sounds like a smart wonderful kid and they can’t take that away from him. He has a wonderful family and a solid foundation, he will land on his feet. Enjoy the beautiful weather and dinner with your mom. I don’t think Stella would qualify for a service animal. She gives everyone big sloppy kisses. She loves meeting people and kids, which we are so happy about. We are loving the spring weather too!

moms—I didn’t know they made yellow peonies either! How cool! They are gorgeous! It’s finally SPRING! We cleaned out a little spot in the backyard for an herb garden. Basil, Chive, Cilantro, Mint, Rosemary, Thyme…etc. We also found a spot for some tomato plants. Hoping they will do okay, might not be enough sun, but we shall see. We have the plants inside for now. Still won’t be able to plant outside for a week or two.

dee—enjoy your ‘grown up’ lunch out today!

choco—I put my kiwi in one of my wild island rooms for now.

puma—how wonderful for kiddo to have all the wildlife in the backyard!

Dixie—Congrats on being featured in Trendz!

Hi nita and QofS…and everyone I missed!

what is cool is we found out the lunch specials are seven days a week! so i splurged and got an ice tea instead of water………….

😆 No one wants to be near me when I have the ‘fajita effect’ happening, 😆
Oh .. wait, that’s the result of the fajita effect .
Anyway, YES, it’s kind of like where the sound of something triggers a response. Fresh Crispy crunchy chips; hot, crispy golden french fries, steaming hot savory chicken soup; spicy sweet Pad Thai … I know that just adding adjectives can engage the olfactory senses and make you hungry for the food described.

  38. 38 momskinz (WWID: momsownkinz) said,

    😆

i assumed it was the smell & sound of them making you want them, but THAT “fajita effect” dixie mentioned would be the result LOL

  39. 39 Dixiecup said,

    May 5, 2019 @ 10:08 pm

That’s probably more accurate, Moms. I was thinking more along the lines of onomatopoeia .. you know how something sounds like what it is … ‘burp’ sounds like a burp, ‘gulp’ sounds like someone swallowing. But I think your definition is much more accurate. Hearing the sounds and smelling the aromas would definitely trigger that ‘gotta have it!’ reaction. That’s why they have bakeries in grocery stores, it increases sales.
