    bummer gaga
dd got waitlisted for one of her choices, but realized it was not worth paying the six hundred dollar fee to stay on the list until they decided, so she moved on to picking between the ones who truly wanted her and offered giant financial aid…..
it will work out, i promise!

gaga—I’m so sorry to hear your nephew was waitlisted. I know this is incredibility difficult for your family. Your poor mom, that would break my heart to see my mom cry. The best you can do is stay positive for your nephew and know it will all work out even though it doesn’t seem like it right now. Stella is most definitely full of life! I hope you are right about the leash training…it’s not pretty at the moment! 🙂

moms—She is like a cartoon! 🙂 She gets so excited sometimes she doesn’t know what to do with herself.

Moms, your pine wolf room is awesome!

Dixie – Thanks for letting us know about troublesome walruses. I wasn’t sure how they were a setback. I have a lot to go. Sigh! I’m trying to do my account and my dd’s.

Gaga – Sorry about nephew not getting first choice! Hard to understand why that happens. But perhaps there is a reason that will reveal itself in the end.

I’m in the middle of several big projects. One with my girl doll class. Just finished cutting out bunched of felt fabric to make poodle skirts for dolls for 35 students. I have quite a few other details to attend to before Monday.
Then I need to prepare 22 flashcard sets for my Spanish class. Tomorrow is american girl doll movie day at my house. I probably have about a dozen girls coming. On Sunday, I’m hosting a baby shower. Lots of prep still needed to be done for that.

Well, on to try to work on Adventure game and avoid those walruses.

    Good Morning !
Finally Friday…. Thanks to each of you for your kind and comforting words about my nephew….I know he will eventually land on his feet, his criteria was small and urban…. He will probably end up at the largest university in the state !
He was accepted in the “honors” school which sounds like a separate portion of the university… Their own dorms..dining hall and classrooms.. maybe won’t seem so overwhelming for him…I have not give up hope of him being accepted off the waitlist… but not holding my breath.. Don’t know how you all stay sane!
Feel so badly for all of the kids waiting… to figure out their future plans…
dee… don’t follow March Madness too much.. Have my favorite teams but am not glued to the TV to watch the games… I am more of a home town sports watcher and that stems from my sports connection with my nephew. He has a mind which spews out data like a computer… and thinks I know what he is talking about !! Makes me laugh… Sometimes we spend an hour on the phone talking sports…..( He does ALL the talking and I am a great listener)
moms.. good luck with the prom sleepover.. I am sure the kids will have a great time…So happy your pup is feeling better !
Queen of Sheeba… You sure are a busy lady !!! Where in the heck do you find time to keep up in WW ? Let me know if you are missing something.. I will try to help.. Congrats on your trophy
Chants… Congrats to you too ! I started out hating the Challenge games but after playing a while… started liking the games !
Took a Vacation Day today !! Getting my hair cut and highlighted…needs it badly….Hope to get a short list of errands run and lunch with my Mom.. would like to get her out of the house but most days she just can’t get around well enough.
April…. Love hearing about Stella… maybe someday when I am home a little more I will get a pup… for now virtual is the way to go for me !! LOL !
In case you didn’t know… This weekend is Dog appreciation day at the estore..has not started yet and maybe they will offer some pups which you want to add to your WW family…
Hope you all have a nice day….Measurable snow expected today…so over winter weather !

    MEASURABLE SNOW?

    did she say measurable snow?

    it’s spring here, ya’ll 😉

enjoy getting your hair “did” & being pampered a little i hope

btw, pup is not staying home for the rambunction (is that a word?) tonight – dh is taking her out for a relaxing escape – that’s a ploy to do what’s best for her & to keep him out of the darn way 😉

There was a little rain this morning when I left for class, by the time I got here it turned to SNOW. Umm excuse me? This is unacceptable.
Gave up on the trophy challenge. I don’t mind the waddles game every one in a while, but playing it long enough to rack up over 250+ kc isn’t gonna happen. I didn’t even know that icecap game existed before the challenge, but I don’t like that one at all.

Okay, I just figured out that I need to spend 30 more minutes of the Waddell game to get the trophy for my daughter! It will be hard with all the busyness of today. Gaga – I do have trouble keeping up with WW. I manage ten accounts including one for dd who is busy with college, one for step-granddaughter who has limited screen time, two for me and then the extras which get ignored if I am not able! Even if I don’t need things, I always try to do everything. Yep….addicted! LOL!

moms – somehow I missed about your pup. I need to go back and read previous posts again.

Dee – your chili sounds awesome! I have never been to an estate sale, but it sounds like fun.

    Enjoy your vacation day, Gaga!

Chococat – Snow? Really? That’s crazy! It is spring! 😉

Oh, Dee, I’m not sporty in the least, but I did fill out my predictions for the NCAA tournament (I think I have the name right – ha ha!) I had to make an account on ESPN! What? LOL! Of course, I’m at the bottom already compared to my family members I’m “competing” with. I have a girlfriend that choose what teams will win by the color of their uniform and she almost always comes out on top. I didn’t do that, but I decided to predict based on if I had any connection to a team. Grandma from Iowa. Okay, Iowa will do well. Things like that. I used a bit of common sense, too and looked up some scores, so sometimes stats won over my “name” preference.

Well, off to “de-clutter” and clean house. I have three hours before little girls start arriving. Making tea and lemonade and probably 8 batches of popcorn or more!

Have fun, moms! I bet your ds is glad that he doesn’t have to spend so much time on his hair! I’m sure they will have a great time at the prom!

My husband will probably want me to have movie day more often because the living room looks so nice now! 😉 Ha ha! He was just stating earlier this week that it seemed that every flat space in our house had a pile. Well…no longer ALL flat spaces. I made the main level of the house to his liking!

I made six big batches of popcorn, 8 quarts of lemonade, 1 half gallon of tea. Glad that I didn’t spot treat my carpet before they came, because I will certainly have to do so now! Only three spills and I was one of them.

The girls just left around an hour ago. I’m totally beat, but they had so much fun. Many of them brought their dolls and we even had two boys (dolls) at the party! It was fun watching them watch the movies (Maryellen).

SO…………because I was so tired……….I finished the Waddell game for my dd’s account! So glad to be done! 2 is enough for me! Not exactly my go to game when I want to relax.

    and this is my opinion
that whole waitlist thing………either ya want me or you don’t!
and the school did not provide financial aid info……so we had no clue what their offering was going to be, when we had bonafides (that were in hindsight “better” schools). Plus the fact they wanted 600 bucks to hold the place on the waitlist.
    meh
it was either kenyon or oberlin, which dh and i initially liked due to proximity (versus boston)…………she toured everyplace she applied to and got lots of good offers moneywise, but her heart was set on boston after seeing it….we were worried about cost……….but the kiddo and the school came thru with scholarship money and grant money and so on……..

some may depend on where they go as far as acceptance for even higher ed, so that also must be kept in mind………..and sadly it does matter in some fields

(godmothers)…The school he was waitlisted for does not have a fee… (CWRU)… but he is willing to wait until April 25th? which is the date he must let OSU if he will be attending…I don’t ask him too many questions…BUT I am very interested….. should hear from the final two schools this week…
CLE did not get the snow that was expected… flurries intermittently throughout the day..windy and cold but … nothing measurable.. Thankfully

Gaga, Glad to hear your community doesn’t have to dodge doggy donuts.
Would you consider a ‘just coming of age’ senior with a Rubbermaid tote full of Webkinz as your neighbor. Who’s finicky about her surroundings and has no issue calling a student or outside help to do her landscaping and yard work? I do bake a mean chocolate cake and I have the gooey-est, most sumptuous butter pecan tart recipe. Plus I have a coffee pot that brews a fresh cup on request, whenever I have company.

Moms, thanks for giving us an inside look at your house during prom party. Was the young man’s face quite sheepish when he asked for the Fem-Hy product?
It sounds like the house was filled with laughter, good food and great memories.

I was so hoping Puppy day would be similar to last year. Sadly, I have to buy codes or relinquish some of my Rubbermaid webbies to upgrade from free. No bonus points pets this time. And I have run out of the ‘one time special offer’ points on those accounts, too. I should’ve beeen more frugal.

DIxiecup… would love to have you for my next door neighbor ! I too have a treasured Rubbermaid tote of my all time favorite webkinz ! Have given so many away over the years but there are some I can’t give up…I live in a community where management is responsible for snow/grass cutting ! We are permitted to
plant our own flowers.. trees.. or whatever around our space…Love coffee !!
    Love sweets especially chocolate…
moms… hope you are recuperating from your prom sleepover !! I am sure
the kids had a great time…and hated to go home. Hope dh and your pup had a quiet night out !
Don’t forget .. those with Asian accounts .. get your rainbow teapot !
Queen of Sheeba .. hope you were able to have some down time before your
    shower tomorrow !
dee.. You are lucky to have found a prince charming ! You guys sound like a match made in heaven…. there is a lot to be said for being financially responsible…. and as retirement creeps up .. financial security becomes a huge worry for me…

That sounds like a lot of fun, if crazy busy Moms and Sheeba. I barely managed to get OD to go to prom at all, any extra stuff besides some pictures was right out. 9 hours of rehearsal, I was thinking that sounded crazy then remembered that marching band and robotics are that bad or worse on competition days. Hopefully they didn’t give the kids much homework this weekend.

The retro clothes giveaway started today. Is the pretty blue spring sparkle dress. Half the pets in the club house seem to be wearing it.

Prom after-parties sound like so much fun!! I don’t recall if I ever went to one. I doubt it, because I had the most backwards high school experience ever. My dad was (is?) super controlling, and would have never let us go to any kind of sleepover with mixed genders there. I was a boring old homebody who never went out, and drew furries HA. (I DID go to my prom stag, though. My small group of friends posed in my photo with me, and my best friend is carrying me princess-style. But in the picture, the view you have of me is SO UNFLATTERING because you can see the outline of my BOTTOM and undergarments through the dress- all the fabric pulled just right when she lifted me. UGH.) Maybe someday I’ll be the cool parent and host an after=prom party, but I’m still a socially-awkward introverted weirdo, so maybe not LOL.

I thought I forgot the teapot thingy, and signed on just now in a panic- LOL it’s tomorrow! I’m not going to miss this one like I missed the sauna.

OH and Kiddo and I went out yesterday to the animal shelter for Free Adoption Fridays to get his KITTY for his birthday. (A little early, birthday is April 1. He’ll be 3.) But I thought if we went after Free Adoption Fridays, there’d be slim pickings. We met a sweetheart of a little dainty calico named Clover- she LOVED us immediately, and even let Kiddo hug her and she purred so loud. I loved her at once, but Bugaboo wanted to meet another cat (“What? A place where a lady keeps bringing us different cats to play with? I’m IN!”). He liked one named Arizona, who was certainly more interested in the rest of the room than us. I didn’t get a great vibe from her, but it’s supposed to be Kiddo’s birthday treat to choose, and the volunteer said that Arizona would also probably be a great choice to be friendly with a family with a toddler. So, we put a preliminary hold on Arizona, and planned to pick her up on Monday.

BUT as we got in the car to go home, I began to drive, and felt sick to my stomach. I had killer anxiety, was distracted and distraught, irritable, and kept seeing flashbacks to Kiddo holding that sweet little white calico, Clover. And I thought “No, that’s ridiculous, Arizona is a perfectly fine little cat, she’ll be great in our home-” but I tried to force myself to envision Arizona in our house, playing, sleeping- AND I COULDN’T. It was the most uncomfortable, awful thing… I wanted to slam on the breaks, turn the car around, and race back to tell them we made a mistake, we needed Clover, SHE chose us, and we NEEDED to bring her home-

So I did. I turned the car around, and booked it back to the shelter, Threw the kid in a carrier on my back, and scribbled my name on the sign-in form. Sprinted for the cat wall, scanning, scanning, until I found Clover- her sign was still up! She was still available!! I raced to the desk and said “We just put a hold on Arizona, but that’s a mistake. We tried to leave, and the Universe told me to come back and we actually need Clover. I need to switch my hold!”

And we did. Cover is coming home with us on Tuesday. Kiddo understands. He’s remarkably chill about it, although he knows what happened. He also knows why, that Arizona just wasn’t the right kitty for our family. Sometimes you choose a pet. Sometimes the pet chooses you. <3

Puma, I know what you’re saying! The ‘Butterdog’ was just like that! All these cute little dogs on adoption day at Pet Value and the lady handling the adoptions looked at me and said, ‘I have your dog coming from Montana.’ I’d seen one in the pen that I’d thought was particularly sweet and totally thought would’ve suited us way better. I looked at ‘Zoey’ and wasn’t particularly stuck on her, but she had an interesting back story. She was a rescue from Montana who’d just been relieved of her unborn pups. She had worms so bad that the pups didn’t survive but she was still carrying them. She needed a home with a younger dog in it, because she was a ‘Momma’ dog. Chico was a rescue, still fairly young (not a pup, but small) and had spent a good portion of his male life being studded out or staying in a crate. He was discovered, freezing to death, in -25 degree weather. He was easy to catch because he was so cold he couldn’t move. After he was neutered and nursed back to health he was placed on an adoption page in the newspaper that was very specific about his home requirement. Someone who knew chihuahuas, would be patient with him because he had little for social skills (including no bathroom etiquette) and a severe dislike of men and possibly children. Aside from the fact that I had a man (who wasn’t home much) that was the only criteria I couldn’t meet. We passed muster and he came home in December, a year later we sought a companion for him and my husband, because Chico was clearly mine and growled at hubby every chance he got. He refused to go near him, even when he had treats in his hand, so he’d been badly abused.
Anyway, back to the little gal. I saw a picture of her and the one thing that really got me was the heart shaped splotch on her shoulder. She was still being fostered as she healed from her surgery and she was an incredibly loving, accepting dog who had a strong need to mother. After the visitation went really well, we decided on a day for her to finally ‘come home.’ The minute hubby walked in the door from work she was all over him like she’d always been his dog. The bond was instantaneous! She turned into a puddle of butter and cried when she saw him, like she hadn’t seen him in years. He changed her name to Sophie, the butterdog. She was constantly washing Chico’s face (much to his dismay) and he finally relented after about 2 weeks of her Dogged determination.’ Yup .. he was doomed to be her baby. The best part? Chico suddenly decided hubby no longer posed a threat, in fact he became much more interesting because Sophie adored him.

Agreed, Puma, sometimes, even from a distance, the pet chooses you.

Oh YAY, a geo-magnetic storm!! Love it when the poles are affected by this phenomena. Depending on where you are, even though the Aurora may be a sight to behold, the polar effects are a bit more disconcerting. It can cause satellites to drag, radio frequency wave interruption and power grid disruption. Coronal mass ejection events are occurring a bit later than normal this year. Might even make some of your internet a bit wonky and the weather might be unstable for a few days.
Mind you, they are only classing this one as a g1 so we might hardly feel anything.

Awww….puma and dixie! Love your stories!
And our kitty pig pen, piggy for short, chose us too! He was running around neighborhood with other cats from his litter..no home that we could see. We’d just put our loving cat Stalker to rest, Stalker had chose us too, 8 years before, he was abandoned, we took him in had 8 great years. I was miserable and depressed when piggy showed up in same spot as Stalker! I didn’t want another pet..hurt too much to lose them..but piggy was persistent..and he’s here to stay..lol

When we took piggy to be fixed they told us he was about 6 months old. My hubby went next door to shelter and saw an old kitty there who had had surgery, and was 12 years old and up for adoption. Dh got lost in that cats eyes…love at first site! With his health issues we figured no one would want him.and we put a hold on him. We only asked that they let us bring piggy to meet him, and see if they got along as our home was too small to seperate them for introductions..they agreed, but thought I was weird..lol long story short..no issues.

skitty kitty showed up out of the woods one day here…….was nice but skinny, so of course i fed her……..dd fell in love, but we were heading out for vacay. dh said if she was here when we got back, we would talk about it…….so the whole trip dd and i were talking about the kitty! she was here when we got back, so off to the vet she went (don’t want no cooties in da house!)
turned out she had been spayed or whatever………..also found out, she liked to pee on carpets………yeah………….so all my carpets are gone and cat is still here. it is totally dds cat and she is not super cuddly or friendly or any of that lovely cat type behavior, but man oh man, she kills moles, rats, mice etc……..

So we brought Spanky home with us.. we had him almost 2 years till health issues took him from us. Piggy was heartbroken, and so were we. But Spanky got the best life we could give him in the time he’d had left.
We thought about getting another rescue, but piggy had taken his passing so hard, not sure he’d accept another cat..and so we decided to just spoil Piggy.! And I happy to say he’s finally adjusted, and is a lovable pain in the butt demanding cat.. and he’s here because he chose us!

Lol.oh dee..sorry about the carpets! But sounds like you have a great mouser! And sounds like you got a good cat in spite of the carpet issues.

I had a cat years ago made sure my then husband never left clothes on the floor! She’d tinkle on them if he did.! He was not amused..

He came back around noon proud as a peacock..my car is fixed! Yeah figures they’d fix the heat just when spring is here…lol
Our son had driven back with him and they left my car and picked up dhs new to him truck to play with, dh is tired and on way home by himself..my nerves are shot.

But he promised to pull over if he gets too tired. And will call me if he does. He’s gonna be exhausted from being out all day. But I’m proud of him for doing it, even if I’m a nervous wreck.. I almost feel like the first time I let our ds drive my car alone for the first time. .but i will not let him know that . It’s 640pm and he just called while I was writing this..he’s on his way. .

Hey everyone! Happy Player Appreciation Day!

The Rainbow Teapot Fountain is such a cute item – I love its animation! I’ve already incorporated mine into a room 🙂 Oh, and speaking of rainbows, thank you so much for the Rainbow Gumball tip, TLL! I’m doing the Spring Celebration Challenge on a few accounts, and your tip saved me many trips to the Clubhouse 😉 Hugs, thanks again!

Hey dee and april, do either of you watch the Spring Baking Championship on Food Network? A new season just started last week, and the second episode airs tomorrow – my mom and I have been watching this as well as TGBBS 🙂

moms, your Pretty Pine room is gorgeous! I love how you positioned the staircase leading up to the indoor space – the cottage is really cute, too!

Aww, all of your pet stories were really touching ♥ And Puma, I think it’s so sweet that Clover is a calico! When we adopted our calico kitten, she was just getting over a cold and on medication – we got a great vibe from her too, and shortly after we brought her home she warmed right up to us and started to feel better. Today, she’s one of the most friendly and affectionate cats you’ll ever meet – she even likes being held like a baby

Thanks for retrieving my earlier comment, Moms! Truth or Dare story is hilarious!

Baby shower…done! Check! Now onto lesson prep and all I want to do is sleep.

Logging in to get my teapot!!!!

WHEW! Got the house all cleaned up and back to order, and we celebrated my father in law’s birthday.

puma – i am also an introvert, and i wouldn’t have ever had a party like that growing up, but my ds is a total extrovert, social butterfly, and I really wanted to give them all a chance to relax & have fun because they are in such a demanding and high pressure environment. they were a great group – very appreciative and respectful. (thank goodness! you know it only takes a couple to ruin something like that, but they were fantastic!)

and now I am crying reading about dixiecup’s Sophie & Chico right after the Clover story, too – there’s nothing like the love of a pet

Puma – congrats on your new family member! I love cats, looking forward to when I can get another kitty.
I see everyone is sharing their pet stories, love it!
I got my sweet little Gypsy when I was 8. My parents got her from a pet store (ADOPT DONT SHOP!), which is something I disagree with, but as a child I didn’t know any better and it wasn’t my decision. This pet store got a litter of siamese kittens around the same time every year and the year prior we had gotten a siamese kitten from them that we named Stanley. What we didn’t know at the time was that Stanley was sick and he passed away when he was only a few months old. We had no idea that he was sick and one morning we woke up and he was gone.
So the following year we went back (why we would go back and get another kitten from them after getting a sick kitten idk) and I picked out Gypsy. We had her for less than a week before the owner called and asked us to bring her back. Her brothers who hadn’t been sold yet were sick and the owner was concerned that Gypsy was too. She kept Gypsy for a little while and nursed her back to health before returning her, but her brothers didn’t make it. I have no idea what the sickness was, but considering she got all her siamese cats from the same breeder and multiple kittens got sick and died, I’m guessing it was a genetic issue with the breeding pair. Whatever health issue it was never returned, but she passed away last august. This thursday would’ve been her 16th birthday.
We got our Chihuahua Sparky from the same place ( 🙄 ) and thankfully he didn’t have any health issues. My parents wandered in one day, not planning to get any pets, but then fell in love with this itty bitty little chihuahua puppy.
The pet store has since been shut down for selling sick animals… I’ve also educated my parents on why petstores are bad. adopt. don’t. shop.

I looked up when that petstore closed and found some news articles. They had to move in 2015 because the landlord wouldn’t renew their lease due to all the complaints and they officially closed in 2017. We lost Stanley in 2002 and nearly lost Gypsy in 2003… it’s disgusting that this was a known issue for so many years before they were finally shut down. According to the articles she had been in business for 30 years.
