   donkeedonk – your hair story sounds familiar, i had to find a new stylist after having the same one for over 15 years – i tried my friend’s but wasn’t very happy, so i’m trying my mother’s new stylist now and still not perfect but better

   it’s a painful change, and my current stylist – the horror is i have to CALL to make an appointment?! what?! i want to text! talking on the phone is so ugh 😀

   momskinz – I avoid placing phone calls at all costs! Such a time waster.
   I work for an online shopping company. it drives me bananas when people call to place their order instead of just entering it themselves. My eyes roll when the phone rings. so annoying I have to talk to humans LOL

   the hair place I am considering going to has online appointment bookings. You can see all the different stylists and openings.

   The place my daughters go to has online appointments but I usually just make OD’s at the desk after she has her hair cut cause it needs to be done kind of frequently. I go to a walk in place two minutes from the house. OD is having the issue she isn’t coming home as much with the bad weather so she has to go to some place at the school. Her hair is getting shaggy, I figure it is even odds it just doesn’t get cut all winter. I don’t care for making phone calls either.

    Happy Wednesday, everyone!

    We got a little extra time this morning with icy rain and a 2-hour delay for school/work. Trying to send chocolates to all my accounts and some friends. I’m still trying to collect Blueberry Acai, Whipped Strawberry, and Lemon Zest if anyone has extras! If anyone needs any of anything else, my dock is swimming in extra chocolates, so please ask!

    Thank you to Ruby and Leenie for the items from my wish list! And to everyone else for the extra chocolates! Here’s hoping we send enough for the community challenge.

    I was coughing last night and grabbed a cherry zinc tablet from the nightstand. Unfortunately, I feel asleep with it in my mouth, and this morning, my tastebuds are completely desensitized to taste … just this nasty zinc flavor. I’ve tried brushing my teeth, mouthwash, coffee, water … ick, just ick. I’m wondering if I just have to wait for new tastebuds to grow back in.

    Haha, I love seeing all of the other introverts on the forum. I’m still using the same hair stylist from 20 years ago when I worked in the city. I still drive 30 minutes to go get mine done. I don’t know what I’ll do when she retires.

    Hi everyone! I apologize for not posting these past few weeks. I wish I was on a super vacation, Moms! This has been a rough month. Patsie, I appreciate you asking about me. That was sweet.

    My daughter has a pretty rocky relationship with her dad. He has always been very involved in her life, but over the last few years, she has distanced herself from him, and they rarely speak anymore. Without going into a lot of detail, we are now going through (another) custody battle. Lawyers. Court dates. Attorney fees. Emotional drama. I’ve spent so much time dealing with this the past few weeks.

    My daughter has wrestled with a lot of frustration and depression because of the rejection she perceives from her dad. As a result, my husband (who has been her stepfather since she was a toddler), has really been stepping up to try to be a father figure for her. He has always loved her and cared about her, but he always felt like he took a “back seat” in her life because her dad was so involved. Over the past year or so, my husband has been doing a lot more with her. He loves super hero movies, so he takes her to see every super hero movie that comes out. He love video games, so they play video games together. She loves anime, and he watches anime with her (in small doses).

    My daughter’s greatest athletic passion is ice skating. She stared ice skating lessons when she was 2 years old. Off and on, she has skated ever since. When she was 9, she was competing in local competitions and performing in local shows. She was really good for her age and level. She had maxed out group lessons and got to the point of needing a private coach, but private coaching is expensive, and we couldn’t afford it for very long. So she stopped skating and started ballet and gymnastics. I figured that if she ever found her way back to ice skating, it wouldn’t hurt to have practiced some grace and balance in ballet and gymnastics.

    So last fall, out of the blue, she asked me if I would take her ice skating. And I said, of course! So she skated for the first time in 6 years. And it came back to her so quickly! So for the past few months, she has been skating on her own, trying to practice all the stuff she learned when she was younger. She bought herself a new pair of competition level skates. For those of you who ice skate, you will know what that means in terms of cost. She used her entire savings. I was so worried she would regret it, but the opposite has happened. She has absolutely fallen in love with ice skating again, which is awesome!

    She is SO good. She can fly across the rink forward and backward, she can switch directions instantly. She can do complex spins and spirals. She can do small jumps. She’s considered intermediate level. Beyond a beginner, but still not were she needs to be to enter competitions for her age, but she’s close and so determined. Every week, she spends at least 6 hours ice skating, and she is looking into private coaching lessons.

    In an attempt to find a sporting activity that my husband and daughter could do together, my adorable husband decided to take up ice skating lessons. All of the teen/adult lessons are at the same time, so a few weeks ago, my husband and daughter went onto the ice together. My daughter soared to the back of the rink with all of the other intermediate level skaters. My husband, who was on the ice for the first time, stayed at the front with all the newbies. I watched both of them throughout their lesson. My husband was so nervous, so wobbly. He fell over and over. They actually use the first lesson to each you how to fall safely… because if you are taking up ice skating, you WILL fall. He wiped out over and over, but he got up and laughed it off.

    Fast forward 3 days later. He takes my duaghter up for a practice seesion during open skate time on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago. In some kind of a freak accident, he falls. To the ice. At no speed. From a still standing position. And says to my daughter, “I think I may have hurt myself.” And she looks at him like, What? Just get up! He said, “I can’t. I’m going to need help off the ice. He heard the pop when he went down. When the crew helped him off the ice, his ankle felt was wobbly. Ambulance took him to the hospital. Totally freak accident. He fell in such a weird way that he fractured his fibula, and ruptured all the ligaments in his right ankle.

    So he’s a mess. Had his ankle reduced in the ER. He had surgery 3 weeks ago, and now he has a large plate with 10 pins holding his fibula together, and he has two bands holding his ankle together. Due to the rupture of the ligaments, it was a very complex injury.

    So my baby has been on strict bed rest for the past 4 weeks. He is allowed absolutely no weight bearing, and he must keep his leg elevated at all times. He is lucky enough to have a job that enables him to work from home, so he has not missed a single day of work, except for the one day when he was in surgery. Meanwhile, my job is to make sure he stays off his leg so that he recovers.

    Here’s him: I can do it. I don’t need help…. Crutches slip on hardwood floors and fly across living room and he falls on floor. That was day 1.

    I can do it! Table falls over, coffee spills all over family room rug. I could have handed him the coffee in 30 seconds. Now I spend 20 minutes refilling his coffee and cleaning coffee off the table and carpet.

    He is SO independent. Wants to do everything himself and can’t. So I have spent the past 4 weeks doing everything I can for him. The more I do for him, the more he doesn’t try to do himself and end up making it worse.

    So he goes back to see his doctor again next week. If it’s still healing as expected, he may be able to start partial weight bearing. But we’re probably looking at 4-6 more weeks before the cast comes off and he can start physical therapy.

    I’ve been dealing with some other personal issues too (one of my best friends is going through a divorce), so I’ve had too much going on to spend much time in WW. I’ve tried to log in when possible to do some challenges and dailies, but I’ve only gotten to the trading room a few times this past month. I have not kept up with reading at Webkinz Newz or here, so I feel pretty out of the loop. That’s how it’s always been for me. When I’m into Webkinz, I’m really into it. But when other things start happening, Webkinz becomes a small priority.

    And now the Olympics are getting ready to start! We are not big sports fans, but we will be living and breathing the ice skating portion for the entire 2 weeks. Can’t wait!

    So I apologize for not popping in to say hi. I will try to do better about that even if I can’t keep up with everything or post a lot. I think about you all every day, and I’ve started to post a few times, but almost every time I start something, I get pulled away.

I think a lot of us here an relate to a SO/DH that thinks they can do what they clearly cannot do! Makes you want to pull your hair out! Thank you so much for the lovely gifts!!!     My computer had something wrong with the drive spent most of yesterday night trying to fix if a software problem and the disk wasn’t showing up. It isn’t completely toast or I wouldn’t have made it as fair as I did in the process to try and repair it. Have an appointment later today to get it looked at. On hubby’s computer at the moment. He is barely around with robotics right now so I can use his until the other one is repaired or replaced. Webkinz works fine but no elder scrolls he doesn’t have enough room on his computer to down load it. Off to finish the asian logins so I can finally sleep been up all night, been some week finally did my Sunday grocery shopping at 2 am this morning. Supposed to snow a lot Friday. YD is sick hasn’t been to school the last couple of days.

    Thank you Ruby. Your poor hubby hope he gets good news from the doctors. That is cool about the ice skating. Good luck to her.

OD’s probably hadn’t been used much in the last six months but YD and I played occasionally. Mine still had deluxe active on it. Doesn’t look like I got credit for the unused months either.

    Dee – I’d be lost without duct tape. Seriously. LOL. I bought my husband a shower chair, and every time he showers, we wrap his cast in a trash bag and duct tape it to his skin above the cast. It has worked perfectly! Of course, he has a ring below his knee that has no hair, but it keeps his cast dry!

    Oh… and his cast… LOL. My husband is a big bald guy with a full beard. He used to have lots of facial piercings, but he took them out when he started working in the professional field. Even still, with the way he carries himself, he looks fairly stern. If you didn’t know him, you would not want to mess with him.

    So what color cast does he choose for his leg? The hottest, brightest pink they had. LOL. I said, “You do realize that you may be returning to work with that cast, right?” He said, “Of course! Everyone will love my pink cast!” And he asks everyone to sign it. My daughter signed it for each of our cats too. And our snail. He has a hand drawn snail on his bright pink cast.

    The ortho tech who put his cast on said it wasn’t the first time she put a pink cast on a guy, but it might have been the largest pink cast she’s ever done. LOL

    He’s such a great guy. Through all of this, he has had such a good sense of humor. He’s a wonderful “patient”.

    Gotta go pick up my daughter. She has ice skating lessons this evening. Have a great day, everyone!

    gaga—We got a snow/ice mix… only got about an inch of snow but it fell on top of the ice. Was a little dicey out there yesterday morning, but the sun came out today and it’s almost gone. Glad it wasn’t as bad as predicted for you. I used to watch Grey’s but had to give it up…life was crazy back then and had other things going on. I stopped watching when they had that big plane crash, that was a few years ago. Oh but back in the day, that show was so good!

    My favorite job is the mover. I love trying to make those boxes fit. I am terrible at the sorter and gem mining.

    rubycubes—I love that your dh has a big ole bright pink cast. He sounds like a really cool guy. Hope your daughter had fun at skating tonight.

    Major hugs to RubyCubes! It’s giving me flashbacks to last October when someone here had a spill from our steps and next thing I know there was surgery. You have a wonderfully positive family so I know you’ll pull thru it and fast forward to a few months, your dh will be back to his usual self, I know it! But definitely take a breather for yourself every now and then, you’ll need it.

    Ended up getting a new computer because of how old the other one was. The diagnostics couldn’t even find the drive. Had to do stuff when I finally got home so waiting until the afternoon to get the new computer going. Doing the webkinz on hubby’s again tonight. Excited to see how Elder Scrolls looks on the new machine and I asked about it not being too new to run webkinz. We have icloud back up so I should be OK with the no warning hard drive loss. Not sure about book marks though.

    Happy Friday! Thank you, Shorty and everyone, for the extra truffles. Those were the last few I needed! And thank you, Cheese, for the surprise items! I finally have a nice long Saturday morning tomorrow, and I will be decorating with that wallpaper. I can send over a couple chocolates that you are missing, Patsie. Anyone else need any? Now’s the time to ask! 🙂

    My mouth is still numb from that zinc tablet, but it is almost back to normal. Wow, almost three days. That’s crazy. I will never make that mistake again.

    My favorite game is also Kinzpost sorter. I really like the mover game too, but I am terrible at it, and wish I had unlimited time to keep trying so I can figure out why I can never get level 3. I think the sorter game has definitely improved my math, so I kept at it until I could do level 3 easily.

    Ruby, the mental picture of your dh the way you described had me LOL. Your family sounds like you all know how to have fun. 🙂

    Enjoy your new computer, tmt! It is always so nice to get a new one because they click along so quickly. We got new hard drives in ours last summer, and I’m amazed at the difference a solid state hard drive makes. Everything is nearly instant.
