I was wondering if boper would make a real life treat(s) from the Webkinz recipes.
This no peel apple crisp is my all time favorite apple thing to make in the fall – esp good with pink lady apples (just the right amount of tartness and crispness so it doesn’t turn to mush):
https://food52.com/recipes/32068-bea-s-no-peel-apple-crisp
Don’t forget to get your deluxe day gift (the scarecrow) now on Asian accounts.
Was a long day yesterday. Waited for hon to get home from the gym. Then was doing dishes after dinner when I heard him cursing up a storm. Turns out he forgot about 2 steps on the bottom of the staircase while carrying garbage out and sprained something in his thigh really badly and couldn’t get up from the sidewalk at first. Fortunately no ER visit needed, he eventually was able to hop with the other leg back up the stairs but he had to work from home today. Now if he would just keep his leg up, maybe it’ll be better by the weekend.

zingy – oh man – i love apple crisp & have a recipe i love too and pink lady apples are my favorite! i thought the same thing – boper probably will make them if he has time
dee – i did see the mystery oreo link and forgot to ask my questions – WHERE can i find these mystery oreos??? are they sold all over the US? i mean, if it is fruity pebbles, then i need to try them chocolate or no chocolate cookie … although i personally would have gone with the golden cookie or a sugar cookie

Good Morning everyone!
Catmom—So happy to hear your DH is alive and well! Sorry about the confusion and sorry to hear about your brother.
Chant and moms—Please enjoy the gifts, I was lucky enough to get one of everything from the bags, so I’m happy to share some joy.
RubyCubes—Sending you a FR from zeker1013
Zingy—Oh, hope your hon’s leg is feeling better. That sounds really painful. I love apple crisp! I usually use granny smith because I like the really tart with all the sweet and they don’t turn to mush. I will have to try with pink lady or honey crisp now.
Amber—So happy and excited for you!!! A sweet little girl…how wonderful! Congratulations!
dee—regarding to your post about moving to OH. We moved to OH from IN. The property taxes were more than double. It was a major shock. And we are not in a top tier school dist. They would have tripled if we had done that. Other than that, like Ruby said, cost of living and everything else is comparable. I also agree with Ruby about the peeps from Cincy. They have a stand-off-ish ‘I’m better than you’ vibe. I’m NE of the city and most people here are really nice. Have nice neighbors from CLE and they say it’s just the way some Cincy people are. I talked to my younger cousin about it, she attended college here a few years ago. She had no idea what I was talking about. So thankfully, it isn’t present in college life, gaga. Overall we really like it and are happy here. If we had to do it over again, we would have moved even further out and got a little more space.
gaga—Thank you for the wishes offer. I am in the process of making one. The only thing I know I’m missing is the PAN chair from a few months ago…June, I think, it’s green with little blue flowers and purple flower pillows. I just checked your WL and you only have one thing! I was late to the party on the mystery bags. Did someone have a Glinda Good Witch Dress and Crown for trade? I love that Witches Cottage too. It sure looks like something that would be promo, but you never know.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Deluxe Day!

I sure hope that witch house is NOT a promo.. I want it!

Good morning! I hope you are all well!
Zingy – I’m sorry to hear about your hon! I hope he is feeling better today.
Boper & Cheese – I hope all is well with school. You must be close to midterms.
I FINALLY collected all the fall mystery clothes. That was a major chore! Someone earlier said they had trouble with the Sera wig. Can’t remember who now, but wow… no problem getting the wig… it was those crazy spider feet! Took forever to find them!
In the process of trying to update my fall mystery wardrobe, I scored some older mystery. I don’t think anyone here needs any of it, but I will look at wish lists again (assuming they’re updated), and send extras. I have updated my wish list. Please keep your lists updated! Any chance I get, I’m in the trade room, and I watch for things that you all need. However, if your list is more than a few weeks outdated (please keep it updated to the current month), I will not watch for it. Even if you still have the same needs and nothing has changed, please periodically update the date of your needs list.
Chant – Is your list current? I have a few things from your list, but I don’t know if you still need them.
Miracle – You have mail!
Bepsy – You have mail!
Zingy – You have mail!
April – You have mail!
Have a great day, everyone!

hi everybody! busy morning, but all is well 🙂
i have a question – do you all sit at desks when you are on line? i used to do that, but since we moved here, i like to be in my favorite room which is not the study or the kitchen where i have a desk.
i had a laptop “tray” on wheels almost like the hospital trays, but it’s so tacky in my family room where i like to be … i have a table next to my favorite chair where i can sit it when i’m not using it – the table actually has a removable tray top (like a tea table), but that seems heavy to hold on my lap. So that leaves my laptop on my lap but meh … i like it on a table or something
i’d love to hear if anyone has a fancier suggestion … i thought about just getting a little side table that i can slide around the chair when i want to use it, but it has to be cute because redecorating this room makes me want everything looking cute … sheesh – high maintenance
maybe i need to put my laptop on my desk in the kitchen when i’m not using it …

Cheese – Thank you for the dress!
If anyone is looking for the beret, shirt, or pants from the Movie Director costume on the wheels right now I have all 3. If someone wants all of them, feel free to comment. If you only need one piece, that’s cool too. Figured I’d ask if anyone needs them before I sell them.

let’s start here : for you newer folks………..moms is a fruity pebble fanatic
and then………a dear friend is moving to Mason OH very soon which is funny as i have been looking at properties……….and we have no problem with folks who think they are better……..we just laugh at them
and moms……….i use laptop mostly which fits on an old solid maple end table that i literally saw for sale on the side of the road…….heavy as nothing. it is old school with smaller upper level (for lamp) with a small drawer under and then a larger base which is where i park the laptop. You do not notice the laptop……..or do you need some type of pull out drawer to stick it in?
easy peasy……………we are off to an auction on monday…….
and i think i need to make cherry scones………..

and it is still a bit down the road, but i want to start narrowing down places….we do not need opera or museums or shopping malls………….been there, done that
an hour to a grocery is fine…………a half hour or less to a lake of some sort is better………:) we have traveled all over the world and lived many many places, so we know what we want and do not want………we are both very much drawn to water………..but it is pricey everywhere

April – I’m glad you liked the items! And I’m glad you’re working on a wish list. Thank you for the awesome gift! I loved it! 😀
Moms – I normally work at a desk. I have two laptops, and I almost always two box. However, occasionally when I’m really tired and want to sit in bed and play Webkinz, I use a lap desk. I love it. It’s got a pillow on the bottom so it never hurts my legs, and a plastic “desk” on top. Mine was pretty cheap, around $20. The top is plastic and the bottom is like a bean bag (or old school Webkinz!). There are nicer ones with the memory foam bottom and wood tops, but they are a bit more expensive. They’re lightweight and easily portable to any place in the house, and they travel nicely on trips. When we travel, I take mine with me and work on my laptop in the hotel room bed. If you search Amazon for “lap desk”, you’ll see a ton of them. They also sell them at places like Barnes & Noble and Target.
Dee – April mentioned that she is northeast of Cincy. That’s where Mason is located, so I bet she’s really close. The last job I had in Cincy was in Northern Blue Ash, about 5 minutes from Mason. Generally speaking, it’s a pretty nice area. It’s very close to Kings Island, so it’s one of the most “touristy” parts of the city, lots of restaurants, stores, and hotels in that area. Even though Mason is part of the Cincinnati area, the people who live and work there kind of have their own separate identity. Like, if you ask almost anyone in the Cincinnati area where they’re from, they will say, “Cincinnati”, or if you’re a local, they’ll usually say, “West Side” or “East Side” or “Northern Kentucky”. Nobody says “North Side”. That’s not a thing. Well, actually it is, but Northside is actually the name of a neighborhood located much closer to the city. People on the north side say, “I’m from Mason (or West Chester).” Mason kind of has its own identity. The residents of Cincinnati claim Mason, but I’m not sure Mason claims Cincinnati. LOL
A good friend of mine wrote an amazing poem about Cincinnati called My Town. I thought it was very insightful. If I had to summarize her poem, I would say she characterized the city metaphorically as an old, tired woman, conservative and stuck in her ways, but wanting to seem young and hip, trying to “keep up with the cool kids, like Pittsburgh, Chicago, Louisville, and Atlanta.” She (the city) desperately tries to cover the cracks and bruises with a lot of makeup, hoping fresh paint will hide the decay. The social issues that plague the city, namely homelessness and poverty, gentrification, extreme racial tension and riots, and class struggles, particularly between the “West Side” and “East Side” are ignored. Instead, we create memes about how progressive we are, how artsy the city has become (because of gentrification), how we have our own brands of food (Cincinnati chili and Morlein Beer), and how important our sports teams are in the national arena. Instead of dealing with our problems, we create distractions with the hope that nobody will notice them, or they will be too distracted to care.
My friend uses the fountain on Fountain Square to symbolize this old, sad, dying woman. The last line of the poem: “My town spreads her hands at the fountain, and she whispers, “Don’t forget me.” I have to admit, I get choked up every time she performs that piece. While I know her criticism is of the city, and it may even be somewhat harsh, though pretty spot on, Cincinnati isn’t that unlike many U.S. cities. It just happens to be the one that we live in, and therefore, feel at greatest liberty to critique. And a city isn’t just a non-living thing. It is a reflection of the people who live here. And the people who live here have an identity, one that they don’t necessarily want to analyze introspectively.
So yeah… that was probably not the information you were looking for, Dee. That’s just where my brain drifts at midnight. 😉
I’ve lived in Northern Kentucky all my life, which is to say, folks in my area totally look down on most of Kentucky and the south in general, because we’re from NORTHERN Kentucky, which means we’re smarter and more progressive than our rural neighbors 20 minutes south of us, and we don’t have a southern accent. Seriously, it’s kind of weird. If you’re traveling through, stop for gas in Florence Kentucky, and you’ll feel like you’re talking to someone from the north, travel half an hour south on I71 or I75, and you’ll suddenly be talking to southerners at every stop. Not that a regional dialect has anything to do with intellect, but you won’t convince people in my area of that.
That said, we’re just bullies that have been bullied. Northern Kentucky has grown up in the shadows of Cincinnati. That river is an ocean culturally. Even though a lot of people who work in Cincinnati live in Northern Kentucky, the general perception of Cincinnati is that Northern Kentucky is just Cincinnati’s backyard. We offer homes to a few major league sports stars, CEO’s, and doctors, but generally speaking, we’re the illiterate, gun-toting rednecks who forgot their twang. Not saying that’s how I feel about Northern Kentucky. That’s just the general perception. It’s a conservative city, lots of judgment, and as long as your friend looks, talks and acts like they’re supposed to in Mason, they’ll get along just fine. It’s a really nice place to live. Just don’t stand out as different, because you’re from Mason, not Cincinnati.
LOL. I’ll stop ranting. Goodnight everyone! April, I’m glad you’ve adjusted here so well, especially if you live in Mason or West Chester 😀

Hi Everyone
I haven’t been in a couple of weeks, so much to catch up on, I haven’t read all the posts.
My car died and it was a nightmare getting another one.
Finally leased a new car, so much cheaper than buying.
I leased a Surbaru Forester it has a lot of safety features and seems to be a good fit for my needs.
My hubby is a dialysis patient and we leave at 4:30 AM, to go three days a week.
I hope everyone is well and safe.
The picnic game is a disaster I have never gotten over 3 points. Any suggestions?

gagagee—I have two fairy godmothers!! Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts!!! I wish I knew what to send you.
Hi nita!!! Hi Catmom!!!
dee/Ruby—I live just east of Mason. We looked in the Mason/West Chester area, but dh works in the boonies to the east and he didn’t want to commute that far. Your friends will love Mason. Super friendly, family oriented. That is where we do most of our shopping, eating out, etc. The Mediterranean restaurant in Mason is rated one of the top 10 restaurants in the city. It’s fantastic! Kings school dist. is top notch and is where everyone wants their kiddos. I live right on the edge of not being in Kings. I live in a nice neighborhood of retirees and young families. As soon as the kids get to be 5 they move out of the neighborhood to get into Kings.
KGH—Sorry to hear about your car troubles. Glad you were able to get a new one to get your dh to appts.
Good luck to everyone with the ants….it’s slow going.
Hope everyone has a happy weekend!

Hi Cassie! Nice to meet you! 🙂
I’ve been to Elizabethtown several times, but it was many years ago. I’m glad you enjoyed your time there! It’s located south of Louisville, so it’s not considered part of Northern Kentucky. It’s about 2 hours from here and considered part of Central Kentucky, I believe. About an hour southwest of Elizabethtown is Western Kentucky University, near Bowling Green. That’s where my daughter is applying to college. We drove down there last year to check out the school, campus, and town. It’s a long drive to the school, nearly 3.5 hours, but it’s a beautiful drive, and the area is lovely! So is the campus. She fell in love with the school. If she gets in, I’ll probably be making that drive down and back at least once a month, maybe twice.
KGH – I’m sorry to hear about your car troubles. I’m glad you’ve found one you like. I worked in hemodialysis for 4 years. That 3 day/week schedule can be pretty brutal. Do you wait with your husband while he gets his treatment? Are you able to take a device and play Webkinz to pass the time? I hate the picnic game. I have to play on the easy setting to score points. The most I’ve gotten is 14 in a single game. The good thing is that it’s like ant mania in that it’s short and fast. I might have to play it a dozen or more times to get to 120, but it doesn’t take that long. I played for about 10 minutes and have over 50 points. It just requires patience. It’s a game that relies on hand/eye coordination. I prefer ones that require thought and strategy. But I like trophies, so I’ll keep at it until I get at least one.
April – Do you know the name of the Mediterranean restaurant in Mason? I go up that way occasionally for work or to shop, and Mediterranean food is one of my favorites. I might check it out next time I’m in that area.
Have a great day, everyone! 🙂
