    Good morning!

I think we’ve settled in to the back to school routine, but that doesn’t mean we like it. 😉 We are collectively holding our breaths for the final schedule changes and PRAYING for no changes – this is the best start to a school year in a few years, and we want it to stay the same – especially for my school hating – school anxiety warthog …

Thanks for the fun contest and thanks to the Secret Santa!

Noooo!!! It’s almost school again!!! I guess I’m somewhat excited, because that means Christmas is soon, but other than that, I’m trying to enjoy every moment before September 5th, the beginning of school for me. Not that I like summer that much either…

dee – that’s what i’m watching – portion control … how about agave as a sweetener? it is supposedly more glycemic friendly???

zingy’s gif comment on the last post has me all awwwww sully & boo hugging says it all

& gaga – my father walked after 23 years of marriage – such a jerk, but in the end, we are all better off without him – i pray that you have a similar experience on the job front – that you find it’s a blessing in the long run … still stinks right now to have that stress though

rubycubes – i wonder if programming a octopus/spider/squid to walk & clothe is a challenge for them???

Back to school is a mix of emotions here. One dd going into high school (grade 10) while the other is starting grade 9.
Gaga, You are still in my thoughts. Even with your job saved at the moment, I’m sure it was heartbreaking to see your friend let go.

Hmm, I’d like a spider. I think its movements would be really cute to watch.

Off to work.. be back later

    Have a great day everyone.

dee, forgot to ask you for your stuffed shells recipe. i did try the meatloaf you posted. it turned out well except i didn’t read thru and ended up mixing the topping with the rest of the meatloaf, lol. still tasty tho. besides agave as a sweetener, which mom mentioned, how ’bout maple syrup?

still thinking of you, gaga. i second what rubycubes said – polish your resume, get letters. even if you don’t use them, having plan b will help you sleep better at night.

welcome louise. i used google to translate your message (so not the most accurate):

    “Hello

They love going to school to meet friends so I would say it is routine

and that is a good meatloaf zingy!
stuffed shells was just half pound ground Italian sausage, half pound burg, garlic, salt, pepper, basil

boil the large noodles per box………since you are gonna bake them, I think it is 9-10 min
for stuffing, I used 15 oz ricotta, garlic again!, 1 cup shred mozz, 1 cup shred parm mixed………..put meat first in shell, then cheese mix……covered with a jar of spag sauce and baked for 35 min at 350 til bubbly……..you can assemble and just refrigerate til you want to bake it, but then adjust bake time………..

Now I’m back to the back to school mood, and it’s going to be a lot of hard work. Good luck to everyone going back to school!

What a great contest! Thank you for the gifts, Secret Santa!

My daughter and I have mixed feelings about back to school. We loved spending so much time together over the lazy summer, sleeping in, staying up late watching movies. She took one class over the summer, an online PE class… if you can believe that! Gym is now offered online at her school. She had to do an online course and complete exams, and she had to turn in a log with 25 documented hours of physical activity. It was an easy A, and PE is required for high school graduation. By knocking that requirement out over the summer, she was able to get the schedule she wanted this year.

She just started 10th grade, and this is the heaviest her course load has been. Her school operates on semesters, so she will complete 4 of her 8 classes between now and Christmas break. Then she will complete the other 4 in the spring semester. She is taking Pre Calculus Honors, English II Honors, American History Honors, and Anatomy & Physiology Honors this semester. Every night she has come home with a couple hours of homework. The spring should be a little lighter. She will have Pre Calc II Honors, Chemistry Honors, Dig Lit II Honors (and she will receive a Microsoft certificate by completing that course), and Robotics III, which is not offered as an honors course, but it will complete her robotics pathway and enable her to test for a robotics certificate, which will give her distinction for career readiness when she graduates. She also has a leadership position on her robotics team, which is getting ready to kick off a new preseason, so she has a lot of training and preparation for that. A little over one week in, and she’s already a busy little green-haired bee!

In what little free time she has, she is also prepping for her ACT. She has taken it several times, but she would like to bring her score up a few more points. She’s planning to test again in October and December. She is planning to apply to college this fall. She has a 4.3 GPA. She maintains straight A’s, and every class that’s offered as an honors course, she takes. She was mad about her PE class over the summer. It wasn’t offered as an honors course, so the highest she could get in that class was a 4.0, so it brought her GPA down a little. She is obsessive about her grades.

I do not like the stress of the school year, mostly because I don’t like to see her stress so much, but the routine is good for her. She tends to want to hibernate in her room and sleep a lot when she isn’t focused and in a routine. And she thrives socially with her robotics team. She doesn’t fit in well at school. Academically and intellectually, she thinks on a completely different level from her school peers, and she struggles socially. At robotics, she’s in great company… 30 other kids who love analyzing and debating the physics and philosophy of Harry Potter and Hogwarts… you know, the parts that are purely magical and fictional versus the parts that have solid theoretical possibilities within quantum physics!

Mist – I’m sorry to hear that your main account has been banned! That’s a bummer! I hope it’s not permanent. Feel free to send me a FR on an alt account. My user ID is clm88.

I’ve also thought the same thing about the crab. Like Moms said, I thought maybe it’s too difficult to program an 8 legged creature, but if they can program a walking crab, why not a spider? An octopus might be a little more challenging, and I suspect that’s why we don’t have one and we have so many repeats. Webkinz doesn’t make money for Ganz like it used to, so they have scaled back their resources significantly. They are capitalizing as much as they can by recycling the work they’ve already done, but I don’t see them improving or growing. Makes me sad. 🙁

dee, your stuffed pasta shells sound so good!

What a fun contest! Thanks so much for hosting it, momskinz and generous Secret Santa ♥ Good luck, everyone 🙂

One of the things I enjoyed doing this summer was harvesting fruit and berries in our backyard 🙂 This year we had an abundance of apples, grapes, plums and raspberries!

After having a nice long break from school, I’m looking forward to returning and getting back into routine 🙂 And ditto what you said, Boper – The main downside is having less free time for Webkinz!

Wow RubyCubes, your daughter sounds super smart! Its good to hear she likes school, but I’m sorry it stresses her also. 🙁 I’m glad you got to spend the summer together ❤️

My main account has been banned over a year, and they refuse to lift the ban. They never told me why I got banned either. (Ive asked MANY times) I’ve had that account since ’07. I still use it though and I’m working on completing my pet collection there.❤️

I’m with you Shorty on the peaches!!! I love anything with peaches!❤️❤️❤️ Sadly we don’t get the good Georgia peaches here. Back home I would go to this awesome produce store that had TONS of fresh fruits and veggies (very good prices) and I would get bags of peaches and eat them all haha

My favorite thing about summer is no snow!! I also love the warmth and sunshine, gardening, and my cat loves to go outside during the summer ❤️ There is hardly anything to do here in my part of Canada it seems, but the sunshine helps with my depression a bit.

    Hugs, Mist❤️

    Wow, it is hopping here!
Nita.. I take it you aren’t a fan of summer?? LOL

Favourite part of summer..I am absolutely LOVING eating out of our garden. But I think I have at least 100 pounds of tomatoes, all ripened on the vine, begging to be picked. The are actually sagging towards the ground, even with supports. I’m not a huge fan of tomato sauce. Any other brilliant ideas on what I can do with so many tomatoes? There are only so many tomato sandwiches and tomato salads I can eat!

Interesting so hear the courses that kids in the States can take. My DD is going into AP high school this year. In grade 11 she starts taking University classes but is limited the amount she can take for grade 11 and grade 12. She hates gym and would be thrilled to do an online class but that isn’t an option here. So she is planning to take it next summer.
Off to check out ww. Be back later.

Whoever resurrected my last post, thank you!

Cheese – Wow! Your backyard sounds like paradise. What a neat place to live! The funny thing is that when I picture you picking apples from your trees, it’s a lovely brown horse eating red apples off fall fest orchard trees that I visualize. Sometimes I wish I could skidoo into my Webkinz World rooms lke Blue used to do!

Moms – Agreed. Online PE is a total joke. My kid spent a 13-hour-day at Kings Island, and her teacher let her count that as half of her physical activity requirement (she needed a total of 25 hours over the 3 week course). Not that she wasn’t active that day, but wow. I would have majored in PE if I knew it would be that easy!

    Hi Patsie!

Mist – Thank you. She is very smart, and she is as sweet as she is smart. At 15, she still comes over and sits on my lap and wraps her arms around me and gives me hugs like she did when she was a toddler. She gives me a hug and a kiss every night when she goes to bed. Part of me hopes she will get into the college she wants when she applies this fall because I know how important it is to her, but another part of me just isn’t ready to let her go.

I chuckled when you said that your favorite part of summer was no snow, Mist. LOL. We southern folk down here in the Kentucky tropics generally only have snow during one season of the year. I forgot that you northerners only have one season without snow. What province are you in? (Don’t answer that if its too personal…. just curious what your area is like). My daughter’s father is Canadian. When he and I were together, I traveled to Canada many times, never to either coast, but quite a bit through Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. I never ventured up there in the dead of winter, but I went up one November and there was already quite a bit of snow, and I went up one May, and there were still random snow heaps trying to thaw out in the late spring sun.

I have nothing but the most pleasant memories of the Canadian plains. The sky has never looked so large and blue and bright as it did there. After I visited there the first time, I always figured we would move there once we got established in our careers. Our marriage only last 4 years though. I was up there at least half a dozen times during those 4 years, but I haven’t been back since. My daughter goes back every year with her dad to see his family. My daughter’s grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins still live in Manitoba, and she adores them. She has one cousin who is the same age as her, and despite the distance, they are best friends. They talk on social media, face time, and play games like Minecraft almost every day.

I’m sorry to hear that you struggle with depression. I know what that’s like. We tend to have a lot of grey skies here in Cincinnati, so happy lights come in handy. I’m glad you have sunshine though! And a cat. Cats make everything better…. except black clothes…. unless your cat is black… then white clothes.

I’m also really sorry to hear that about your main account. I’ve heard a number of pets say that in the trading room, that they’ve been banned for a long time and have no idea why, and they cannot find out why when they attempt to. I seriously don’t get that. It’s not like Webkinz has a thriving membership. Why would they ban the people who are paying to play? I could see a permanent ban for something really inappropriate or harmful, but I’ve been temporarily banned a couple of times for nothing…. literally…. sitting in the trading room AFK and coming back to a message that I’ve been banned. It’s highly offensive! I’m like, way to go mods! You teach those kids the dangers of silence!

I have other friends who have been banned, people that I’ve traded with for years who are nice and polite, and they have no idea why they’ve been banned. I said something in the trading room one time about my dog boycott, and several pets said, “Shh… Ruby, you’re going to get yourself banned.” I was like… oh…. um…. sorry mods… just kidding? Hehe. I actually wasn’t, but Big Brother is like everywhere. Entering the trade room is like teleporting into George Orwell’s 1984. So I mostly sit quietly and only talk about trading and hope that my bans for going AFK continue to be temporary. Although now I’m freaking myself out a little… because if trading room mods are lurking here and reading this post and know my username, I could get banned for saying this. If you don’t see me in the trading room again, you’ll know why! “”

Oh, when you take so long to type up a post that 10 other people have posted since you last looked.

My favorite part of summer – air conditioning! I’m with you, Nitabuggy! Bring on the fall!

LeeAnn – Yes! There are so many ways to use those lovely tomatoes! I don’t like plain tomatoes, but there is nothing in this world like homemade salsa. I don’t know that I could use that many tomatoes, but I could definitely make a dent in them! I would make up some homemade salsa, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, vegetable soups, and a variety of Indian sauces, which I would freeze. That would make for some super easy dinners. I also love vegan chili and black beans with Spanish rice.

I have an extra freezer. I have batch cooking days where I make up several crock pots and dutch ovens full of chili, Indian sauces, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, and vegetable soups. Batch cooking is the way to go if you have freezer space because the prep (cutting up all the vegetables and meat if you use it) is what takes so much time. I will spend a couple hours prepping a ton of veggies, but I use a lot of the same ones in different recipes. I’ll have a pot of soup going and a crock pot of chili, and a couple more pots of sauces. Let it all cool, put it into freezable containers, and then put them in the extra freezer. It is a lot of work for a couple days, but then I just heat up the sauces with pasta or rice, and it’s delicious, home cooked, easy to make meals for the next couple weeks.

And fajitas! Sorry for the spam, but I’m totally obsessing about what I could do with 100 pounds of tomatoes. Slice up some tomatoes, onions, green and red peppers, and mushrooms. Make up a fajita seasoning from a recipe or buy a pack of seasoning from the grocery store. Saute’ the veggies and mix in the seasoning. If you eat meat, chicken, steak, or shrimp are popular. Make up a fresh batch of pico de gallo. Put it into small flour tortilla shells (could also use spinach or soft wheat shells) with some lettuce… Yum!

After I finish remodeling my house, I should plant a garden. I eat way too many vegetables to not have a garden. I am in total envy of you right now, LeeAnn! 😉

I am on the Far East coast of Canada (NB), so it’s only nice for a short period of time. I’m not from here though, I’m from the states. I don’t know anyone here so I’m kinda stuck at home. If you want to talk more you can email me. 🙂 I made a webkinz email: mistkinz@gmail.com. I don’t want to clog up the blog with my boring life haha 😀

Idk why they ban so much in the trade rooms 🙁 I seen many ppl who never swear or anything get banned. I asked Betty Butter Ganz about it when I was on fb but she just deleted me and ignored my question. Oh well.

I sent a fr to you from another account so if you get a chance I will be trading for a while 😀

Mist, please don’t stop sharing. That’s what I like about all the people here. We can share anything from the mundane to life challenges.
I think when I get home from work tomorrow I’ll harvest some tomatoes and start making some sauces. I’ve never tried homemade pizza sauce so if anyone has any tried and true recipes please share. I do have 3 freezers. I have frozen whole tomatoes with every intention of using them in the future, only to have them get buried and freezer burnt so I am trying to avoid doing that this year. I’ve never tried canning anything other than beets and peaches so will have to look into that option.

Wow, catching up on posts after a whole day is so interesting!

We are leaving the beach today, getting my boys back so they can go to school on Monday and catch up on what they missed those two days. I generally don’t like them missing the beginning, but they are bright (in line for valedictorian and salutatorian), so they should be okay (granted, it is a smaller school, so the competition is not as fierce! 🙂 ) My dd is sad to see us go … she wants us to move here so she can visit the beach after her classes. Not sure that would be the best for her grades.

Ran into my old college roommate dropping her dd off to college. Wow, what memories! It was fun introducing our dds to each other and catching up. Such a small world sometimes!

Gaga, I am so sorry to hear about your job, but am super impressed by your upbeat attitude about everything. The health care industry is so tough right now. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.

Ruby, I grew up in Ky, and married a Canadian as well. We finally got around to that Canadian Rockies vacation a few years ago, and wow! I can’t believe the beauty of driving through the mountains. He kept telling me how amazing they were, but I just couldn’t picture it until we were actually there. I would do it again in a heartbeat! We were all hanging out the windows like such tourists, snapping photos all over the place. It was like going around every curve was another postcard opportunity.

Mist, thank you so much for the wish list items! I love that honeycomb tea … hot tea being one of my favorite drinks (you should see my tea collection in RL), and my dad has bees and harvests honey, so I thought that one was really cool.

Almost forgot! Favorite thing about summer? The relaxed schedule, more time for family, vacations, my flower garden, having my kids around. Although I definitely am more productive during the school year with a routine. When we left, our house looked like a tornado went through it. It’s almost harder to keep up with when there’s not a routine.

Well, time to pack up and hit the road. Not looking forward to the LONG drive, but we’ll get there. Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the end of summer.

I baked banana bread this morning since I had 5 overripe bananas. The only healthy substitution I made was to sub out half of the white flour with whole wheat flour. I also decreased the brown sugar and added some chopped 70% dark chocolate.

gagagee—I am so dishearten to hear about all the stress at your job. I prayed for love and peace to cover you and strengthen you through this. I hope you have a wonderful day with your sweet nephew!!! I too cannot wait to see all the new fall activities and prizes.
nita—how did the doggies do at the vet? I am with you, BRING ON FALL! I like summer just fine, but fall is my favorite. That cool crisp air in the morning. The changing colors of the leaves. Getting out my cozy sweaters and favorite pair of jeans. Bonfires. Apple crisp, cinnamon rolls. big pot of chili. I love it.
LeeAnn—Your garden sounds wonderful. We used to have a big garden in IN, but since we moved to Cincy, our backyard is all shade. I love it for the hosta, but I miss those homegrown ‘maters! My favorite thing to do with them was roast them and make roasted tomato soup!
Prayers for everyone in the path of Harvey. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Saturday. 🙂

    Roasted Tomato Soup

Cut enough tomatoes into quarters to loosely fill a sheet pan. Cut one onion into 8 wedges and sprinkle around the pan. I would break them up a bit. Peel 2 or 3 garlic cloves and add to pan whole. Drizzle everything with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 400 degrees for 35 to 45 mins. Rotate pan half way through. Scrape everything (including any liquid) into a pot. I would take my immersion blender and buzz it until everything was smooth. I’m sure you can put it all into a blender, just be careful blending hot things. You will need to have the hole open on the blender lid and cover it with a towel while you blend to let the steam escape. Once it is smooth pour into a pot. I would add 1/2 cup to 1 cup (or more if you like) of veggie or chicken stock if it’s too thick, and simmer for 10 mins. I would sometimes add a little half and half at the end to make it really creamy. Serve with chopped fresh basil and grated parmesan. Enjoy! Oh how I wish I could make this right now!

LeeAnn—I just posted the tomato soup for you 🙂 Hopefully it all makes sense. I sometimes make things up as I go or combine recipes, so I tried to remember everything I did. It really is pretty easy. Put everything on a sheet pan, roast and blend it up!
nita—Oh, that’s so nice your son came with you to help with the doggies. That would be quite a job by yourself! Glad they are all well. All you can eat pancakes…sign me up! 😆 Hope you have a great time at Seaworld!
Cheese—Your apple crisp sounds wonderful! Homemade whip cream is heavenly!
Shelly—Apple crisp is one of my favorites too! Does it snow much where you live? I don’t remember what area you are in. I’m sure that is a challenge to have to get around in the winter. I agree, I don’t care for the really hot and humid weather either.
moms—thanks for posting the cute Razzle Dazzle dog and I LOVE the acorn prizes too!

I enjoy being back at school though so its a trade off. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I was so excited to see the retired original Labradors in the dogs days sale! I’ve been working on a neverland room and the chocolate lab makes a perfect Peter, and of course I had to get his shadow (black lab as well). I’ve been really busy this weekend!

    Acorn prizes- not a fan.
The green on the tile is off… I know the grass is “dead” in the fall but that just looks like spew. Hopefully it will rotate so more leaves will cover it.
Hopefully the leaf pile is a 2×2 item, we already have a 1×1 leaf pile.
The trees are okay- I wish they were a little more realistic? The 50 acorn one also has some discoloration issue going on…

Hi all. I don’t have much time to post today. My husband and I are working on the house. We’re installing a new back door today. It’s hot. Just taking a break to cool down and say hi!

I like the fall prizes this year. When I first saw the leaf pile, I thought, ‘Really? That’s the fourth tier prize? A little pile of leaves…’ But then I got to thinking that it may be a 2×2 pile of leaves that operates like a ball pit, where your pet can hide in the leaves and peak out, which would be really cool. I guess we’ll find out soon!

Ok… back to work. If I get time, I’ll be back later. Have an awesome Sunday everyone! 😀

I started school last week and i’m doing 4 classes (14 credits) this semester. It’s my last semester at this school before i transfer to a university for the winter semester. So far it doesn’t seem like this semester will be to difficult.

Skimmed through the comments and saw someone mention that their daughter was able to take gym online and i’m quite jealous. I was only required to take one trimester (13wks) of it in high school and it was a major waste of time. There was pretty much no structure to the class and nearly every day was a free day, so as long as you changed clothes you got credit for the day. I hate sports so i sat and did nothing for 13 weeks while i earned my A. Even though it was an easy A i would’ve rather have been able to do what i wanted to outside of school to earn the credit.

Dee – honey isn’t vegan because even though bees aren’t technically an animal, they are still living creatures and honey is a byproduct that they create. Bees are also harmed in the process of acquiring the honey and for ethical vegans that is a huge problem. There are some vegans who have conflicting options on it and may still consume it, but only get it from local sources where they are able to be sure of the bee’s safety.

Boper, thank you so much! One of each is all I need. I was stating to think I would have no luck at getting either. I am very grateful.

OD has been dropped off at State. She plans to come home for the weekend though. Roommate seems nice, another First Robotics kid. She was Captain of Scouting. OD has a pokemon stop she can reach from her dorm bed. The next dorm over has a gym. We ate lunch in the dorm. Food was much better than when I was a student. It was decent then now it is better than some of the restaurants we go to. I didn’t even have a reaction being in there, very few restaurants don’t leave me itchy just being in the building.

Issue with classes finally resolved for OD. Her chance to add classes was this morning she got a class towards her graphics design minor for fall term and a University requirement social studies for spring.
