Wall paper and floors are beautiful Boper. I dragged my girls to the computer to see them too.
I opened some lunch sacks I had in my dock to try and make sure I had the items they are retiring and got the intellectual pop.

Boper, thanks for the academy links! I was confused because I think I got the griddle prize after level 5, but it looks like that is a different kind of class, so maybe that’s why. So does that mean getting 8 pets through level 10 to get one of each prize? Wow, has anyone done that? That takes a level of commitment that I’m not sure I can handle. 🙂 And it never even crossed my mind to exit out of 3 classes just to get to recess! I must be a little slow on the uptake … that’s a great tip! 🙂
Moms, Ruby would know more about the robotics, but we had a team come into our school with a Lego Robotics kit (you can buy them online) to teach the students some basic programming. I want to say it was around $300 or so, but I just pulled up their page, and they have a whole range of prices now. It’s a little piece of software and some Lego pieces to build your “robot,” “car,” or whatever, and make it do some simple functions. The kids really enjoyed it.
Ruby! Thanks for the wish list items! I’ve looked through your wish list so many times, and I can find NOTHING to send back! 🙁 I might just have to send you flowers or something as a thank you! I loved reading about how you connected with your dd through Webkinz. My kids and I played together for a long time before they outgrew it, and I have many fond memories of trading and collecting with them.

Good morning, friends! We made it through all the schools. Yay! I will be so glad to get my kid back to school. This pre-back-to-school schedule has been way busier than I’m accustomed to. There was a time when my child was that invisible nerdy kid that had no friends. Since joining robotics/the geek squad, she is little miss popularity. We can’t just go out and present at the schools. Now there are lunch dates and ice cream and sleep overs and pool parties. I need summer to end! 🙂
Momskinz – I don’t have any advice on a robotics started kit. My daughter was never interested in robotics until last year. We never even knew about the elementary and junior level lego league until she was in high school. She joined robotics because she wants to pursue engineering or architecture as a career path, so when she started high school, her adviser recommended a robotics pathway. In her first robotics class last year, she heard about this team. First Robotics is the name of the organization that schedules all of the big competitions. My suggestion would be to look into your community’s schools and see if there are any lego league or FRC teams, depending on his age, in your area that he could get involved in. A lot of our kids have never had any exposure to robotics prior to joining the team, but they fall in love with it. It’s also an incredible social opportunity for kids who are really smart or on the autistic/Asperger spectrum. A lot of our robotics kids have social challenges and difficulty making friends, but they find an awesome peer group of other kids like them on the team. At least that has been our experience. Because my daughter is socially reserved and came to the team as a freshman with no robotics experience, she was very slow to interact with the robot. She has mainly stuck with the marketing, web design, and graphics end of things. But this week, with being among smaller groups of students, some of the seniors were showing her how the robot works, and she even got to drive it a bit and shoot some balls at kids. I’ve seen her grow so much in just one year on this team. I can’t wait to see where she is this time next year!

Sorry for the spam! Sometimes I mean to reply to something I read, but by the time I get down to the bottom of the discussion, I’ve forgotten. And then I’m doing dishes, and I’m like… oh my frog!… I forgot to respond to that.
So random thought….
Someone mentioned raiding the dollar store for cheap pets for helper accounts. Since they are becoming more scarce, here’s another alternative. Amazon sellers who combine shipping. I have found that a lot of sellers do not combine shipping, so if you purchase a pet for $2.00 + $4.99 shipping, you’re still paying $6.99 for a cheap pet… not worth it. However, I have found sellers on Amazon (SOS Products is a good one) who sell Webkinz for super cheap and they combine shipping, so if you buy in bulk, you’ll pay very little for them. They recently had a ton of frogs listed for $0.39 each + $4.59 for shipping. Because they combine shipping, I bought 52 frogs, and even with shipping, I only paid $29.97, which comes out to $0.58 each. They are all new with sealed codes, still in the original sealed plastic bags from Ganz. They are old pets, not worth much, but a super cheap way to boost your helper accounts and keep extra accounts active for a year. And because of the way I buy and sell plush, I’m actually going to list 30 of them on Ebay. If I just make $1.00 off each of them, I will make all of my money back and have 22 pets for free.
I am not in any way affiliated with that seller. I just mention them as an example because I’ve bought Webkinz from them quite a few times. They’ve always been perfect when they arrived. The trick is to buy in bulk only from sellers who combine shipping. There are several other good ones I buy from a lot. The more pets you buy, the less each cost individually. I did the same thing recently with another seller who was selling signature chimpanzees for $4.32 + $4.67 shipping. Because they combined shipping and had enough available to make it worth it, I bought 10 signature chimps, with shipping, for $49.44, which makes them $4.94 each.
There is a seller on Amazon right now called 5 Toys. They have a Webkinz lioness listed for $0.01 + $6.99 shipping. They have 29 in stock, and they combine shipping. It’s not the greatest combined shipping rate, but because the pet is only listed at $0.01 each, it comes out to $0.29 + $20.99 shipping, for a total of $21.28 for 29 pets, which makes them $0.73 each. They are all listed as new with codes. Normally, I would jump on that, but because I have so much inventory that I need to get rid of (totes are completely overtaking my family room), I’m going to pass on it. So I just wanted to mention that in case anyone else is interested. This applies to U.S. buyers. Shipping rates may be completely different if you live outside the U.S. I’m always looking for good deals on Webkinz, so if I see something that looks like a good deal to me, I’ll post it in case anyone is interested. And I’ve never bought anything from 5 Toys before, so I can’t vouch for them, but according to their profile, they have a 99% rating, which isn’t bad for Amazon.

Evening Gymbonians!
Sorry I’ve been MIA all week…I spent this week hiking up and down mountains, which is the other thing I do for fun.
I came home with two gallons of wild mountain blueberries and a gallon of wild mountain blackberries. Alas, I was too late for the wild strawberries. Why is it that wild fruits are so much smaller than cultivated fruits, but also 1000 times tastier? Packing all those berries home made getting stuff out of my backpack a challenge. “Okay, now how do I get to my rain jacket without squishing the berries?” Or, “Oh rats, my flashlight slipped under the berries. Should I just go visit the “bathroom” bush in the dark?” 
I had a blast, though. I got to see a flock of wild turkeys, countless deer, a timber rattler (eek!), the tiniest baby rabbit I’ve ever seen in my life, and one bold raccoon who decided to visit my temporary campsite around dinner time. He got sent away empty-pawed. 😆
Off to go look at Boper’s National Park designs. (And I seriously hope they make these for real, because I adore the National Parks. If we could choose what our taxes paid for, all my federal tax dollars would pay only for National Parks!)

Boper – they NEEEEEEED to make your Grand Canyon wallpaper. The hike I did from the canyon rim to the Colorado River waaaaaaay down at the bottom is the best hike I ever did, and your wallpaper captures that experience perfectly. And the wallpaper with the trees is so close in spirit to my favorite National Park, which is Shenandoah. I went there yet again two years ago, and saw NINE bears. Amazing work as always, Sir Boper!
moms – no, Christmas in July wasn’t the least bit exhausting. It was 99.9% fun, and .1% “Okay, now where in the dock is the blankety-blank I have to send out to Gymbonian X?”
And I prefer the wild blueberries myself, which is why I came home with 2 gallons, because I will eat one gallon all by myself! The other gallon will go into my homemade blueberry muffins, one batch at a time. 😉 Actually, I probably ate two cups of berries while I was picking them. It was like “one for the bag, one for me. One for the bag, two for me.”

Ruby keep forgetting you asked about Thor’s room. My Avengers rooms aren’t particularly exciting. Thor is in a Persian theme room with a few added items and I still need to adopt some of the pets I have ear marked for the theme. The Avengers are in a super hero room and the shield room is combination of one webkinz world and world traveler. I am not completely done with it. Phil Coulson is the only pet currently in there, the others I borrowed to use in a couple of other room themes. I was focused more on pets that fit the characters and their clothes. For example Tony Stark is a Rockabilly Rooster.
Momskinz, OD didn’t start First Robotics until high school as well. YD middle school. OD’s school didn’t have a middle school team until after she was in high school. YD did a couple of Lego robotics summer classes through our Regional Educational Services Association (RESA). I don’t know if that is a state program or federal but there is likely something similar in your area. I found this looking around online. https://education.lego.com

gaga – I was seeing black bears, not grizzly. I don’t EVER want to see a grizzly in the wild. Black bears are scary enough, and you can’t climb a tree to escape them, because they can climb up right after you. Grizzlies? They can’t climb up, but they can just knock the tree down. 😆 My very first hike in Shenandoah (which is in the mountains of northern Virginia, if anybody ever wants to go there), I was on a trail to see a waterfall, and managed to accidentally get between a mama and her cub. I walked backward verrrrrry slowly, until I was out of sight of the mama bear, and then I moved faster than I have ever moved in my life, then or since. I’m adventurous, yeah, but not crazy!
I have never forgotten the lesson I learned on the trail that day some twenty years ago…you can move a lot faster uphill with a forty-pound pack on your back then you can moving downhill with no pack if there’s a bear at the bottom of the hill.

LoopyLurker, your hike sounds incredible. I’ve been in Shenandoah and it was one of the best vacations I have ever had. I spent a week hiking and canoeing. I’m glad I did some of those things years ago as I don’t think my body would survive now. What we take for granted in our 20’s becomes a whole different story decades later! The campground had what we called a wake up duck. I swear the owners taught it to start roaming around at 5 AM making sure we were all done sleeping!

tenderloin.. baked potato.. corn on the cob and chocolate cake ! Bakery is about one hour drive there and back… but it is so delicious…

TLL, that is sooo many blueberries! I plan to do some White Mountain hiking next week and there are usually blueberries there in mid august- just need to watch out for deer/bear droppings which look very similar to the bloobs!
Gaga, Breath of the Wild is probably the most beautiful game I’ve ever played. I’ve only played the Switch a few times (only 2 of my friends have it right now), so the only other game I’ve played is Mario Kart which I think comes with the console? I think Super Smash Bros might be coming out in a few months so maybe that would make a great Christmas present 🙂

Wild berries are the best!!! When I was little, my grandparents neighbors had wild raspberries. They were the most wonderful things, I’ve never had any as good as those.

just tasted the loin…….yum yum yum
next time i will add a tad bit more of brown sugar to the marinade
(soy, garlic, salt, pepper and brown sugar)
worked well and easy grilling……..granted i supervised the grilling, but dh did fab………good to know as for some reason pork loin is cheap………steaks are cheap………chicken……….hit or miss depending on sales………..

Perseid meteor shower tonite…………look north after dark……..you need to be in a dark area (not a city basically)

last year was an “event” year where there were more than 200 per hour. thankfully i set my alarm to go see……….totally worth it………this year it is 80 per hour, but if you have never seen a meteor shower, it is worth the trouble….

Speaking of universe, is anyone going to be able to see the solar eclipse this month? I read this in case you may have purchased protective glasses from Amazon. “Amazon is refunding customer purchases for protective solar eclipse glasses that it hasn’t been able to confirm come from a reputable manufacturer, according to a safety notification from the company.” You might want to check their website if you purchased from them and make sure yours are the real deal.

Hey shorty, I just saw you posted before me. That is what happens when I get up to put laundry in the dryer and don’t check the posts again!
Haven’t bought glasses yet. I hear some places are giving them away for free. Don’t know if any place around here is doing it but now I’m a little concerned based on my Amazon post above. I guess I’ll have to check and see if there are specific brands that maybe NASA recommends?
