August Deluxe Day
Another Deluxe Day is coming on Sunday, August 13th! Once again, Deluxe Members will be able to log in and visit the Today’s Activities to receive a special prize: a Wacky Wind Chime! Also on Today’s Activity schedule, there will be an entire day of fun and activities for Deluxe Members to enjoy!

WebkinzRUs – I’ve tried and tried to post the pic of Hippocrates, but I can’t get it to work. I’ve tried the things Boper suggested. I can edit my post. When I try to insert an image, it accepts it, but when I hit update, the post comes up without the picture or link. So here’s the link to her picture. Hopefully it will work.:) If anyone figures out what I’m doing wrong, please let me know.
Miracle’s Mom – Congrats on the success of your book sale!
Momskinz – Some of the signature pets are very valuable now. Timber wolf is one of them. If it’s in new condition with a sealed code, you could get between $200 – $350 for it on Ebay or Amazon. If you want a quick, easy sale, put it up for auction on Ebay and see what people bid for it. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get a specific amount, but I’ve seen quite a few of them sell on auction for over $200. If you don’t care about the quick sale, you could list it for however much you want. It may take longer to sell, but if you don’t mind waiting, particularly until fall, you might get over $300 for it. Others that sell in that price range are the signature siberian husky, large golden retriever, large german shepherd, arctic wolf, australian shepherd, and bernese mountain dog. Even without a code, if they are in excellent condition, these pets will commonly sell for over a $100. The endangered red wolf and german shorthaired pointers are other good ones to watch. They have become much rarer and their prices have spiked a lot in the past year. Both of those pets were commonly selling for $50 – $60 new with codes last year. Now they are going for $100 – $200, and I don’t see many of them. There are a few others that I’m watching very closely because I anticipate them spiking soon too.
I don’t watch the fluctuating prices on all Webkinz pets. There are way too many, and a lot of them are of little value. But I watch all the signature pets and quite a few of the rare regular plush pets religiously, so if you (or anyone else) ever have a question about their value, feel free to ask.
Everyone – I have not forgotten about putting together a strategy tutorial for Jumbleberry Blast, I just haven’t had time yet. It’s a long game, and I will probably have to play it at least a few times to win it, which I’ll need to do to take some screenshots, which will make it easier to visualize what I’m describing. My kid and I are super busy this week. She is the captain of marketing on her robotics team, and I’m a mentor for new recruitment. All of the schools in her district have their freshman orientations and schedule pickups this week. We spent most of today with her robotics team, presenting for one of their big corporate sponsors. Every day this week, we have demonstrations, presentations and recruitment activities at all of the high schools. On Saturday, we have 6 hours of robotics. I’m conducting a leadership class for all of the team captains, and I still have to prepare for that. I’m sure I’ll find a little time here and there to play, and I’ll be checking in here at Gymbos daily, but this week I may not post as much as I have been, and I’m almost certain I won’t have time for Jumbleberry Blast this week. But I will try to get to that at some point over the next few weeks!

dee—You lived in Germany? My dad was stationed there right after my parents married. I don’t remember what city. They lived right next to a bakery. My mom said she would wake up every morning to the most wonderful smells and she would get fresh bread every morning. She said that bread was the most delicious bread she ever had. Oktoberfest is coming up here in Cincy.

Sorry I haven’t checked in these last few days. I got back from my vacation on Sunday and I already feel like I need another vacation.
I haven’t slept since I got back and Wacky Fest is just wearing me out. And it’s only 2/3 of the way over!
I just spent I don’t know how long reading through everyone’s post from this past week. My eyes hurt a bit from all the reading, but I love learning more about you guys and reading about your unique experiences. I really am so glad I found such an amazing community!
RubyCubes, what a fun and amazingly generous contest you held! Obviously I wasn’t able to participate, but I enjoyed seeing what everyone guessed! And of course seeing that cute pink hippo picture at the end!

Played some pokemon while at cedar point today. Didn’t catch anything special, but i did work on hatching some eggs. There was a raid battle for a zapdos, but no one near the gym was playing, so there was no point in attempting.
Had a really good day at the park too, it wasn’t too hot out, so that was nice. We went in june and it was over 90 that day and miserable. We got that fast lane plus passes (which are a must for me), so there wasn’t too much time spent waiting around. We were practically able to walk right onto the Mavrick and Valraven(two of the most popular rides) twice because the lines were nonexistent. We wanna make another trip down there for halloweekends this year, but even with the fast passes, i’ve heard that the times are ridiculous during that time.

Hi everyone! I’ve had an exhausting day. I love teenagers, but spending all day at high schools definitely makes me appreciate my decision to not become a high school teacher. Wow! I’m pretty sure they didn’t make energy in that size when I was a teen.
Hippocrates appreciates all the compliments. Thanks! Not only do I not change pets frequently, I generally don’t change their clothes until I change pets, as you can see from her spring outfit. My pets are always seasonally out of fashion! 😀
WebkinzRUs – When I sent the email to momskinz with the code for the curly lion, I forgot to include the code. I remembered to pull the plush out of the tote, detach the code, and send the email to momskinz, but I forgot to actually type the code into the email. So, I apologize for the delay! Momskinz emailed me today…. like…. I don’t see the code??? LOL So I resent the email, and this time I made sure to include the code. I’m sorry!
Momskinz – Thank you for your help (and patience) with relaying messages! Also, thank you for letting me know why I couldn’t make the picture appear. I was getting so frustrated! I should have figured that it had to do with magic, that was my weak subject in school. Unfortunately, I’m from the pre-Hogwarts generation.
Mist – Thank you for the awesome gift! I’m so excited! I’m almost finished with that collection now! Also, I remember meeting you in the clubhouse a couple weeks ago! I didn’t know if you were the same Mist I met in there. That’s really cool! I wish I had met you sooner. You’re such a sweetheart! Hopefully I’ll see you in there again soon. 🙂 I wish I had a border collie code to send you. I think I have the plush, but I would have to double check to be sure. It’s possible I sold it. But if I do, I know it doesn’t have a code. I will keep an eye out for them though. If I find a good deal, I’ll snag one for you. And when I have time (this week is crazy), I will look to see if I have any of the other pets on your list. I think I have a weimaraner, but I can’t remember if it has a code or not.

otterkinz, I absolutely know what you mean by feeling you need a vacation from your vacation. I made the mistake of going to Universal Studios in September a couple year’s ago. Thought it would be cooler then the summer months but between not being as young as I used to be and weather that was beyond humid with temps in the upper 90s I came home completed exhausted. Maybe it is time for me to peruse more grown-up vacations? Oh heck that isn’t going to happen but maybe January would have been a more sane choice!

Good morning! Headed off to work soon. Finally got the Wacky cupcake off of the Deluxe Wheel of Wishes … was worried I wasn’t going to hit that one.
Really should have opened more extra accounts when I had the chance. 😉 I have 7 accounts and still don’t get enough fizz, or leaves, or snowflakes, etc. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up with more than that. How many accounts do you all have? And how do you keep track of them all?
I finally typed it all up in a Word document, with which accounts were Helping Paws, etc., which were free, etc. I have 1 deluxe account, and 2 others that I keep up fairly well (trying to get Spree and Jumbleberry prizes). The other 4 are pure extras that I only use when I’m really trying to get something … and I suppose they will expire in about 12 months unless I add some more pets to them. I did hit that Dollar Tree sale about a year ago and stocked up, so there’s that! 🙂
Anyway, off to work! No more luck with the yellow fizz, so thanks again gagagee for helping me to relax during Wacky Fest! I’d be starting to get really worried by now!

Thank you for your help Boper! I am paranoid its too late though and I wont get the pet. I wish they would respond to my email. This was big for me since I cant afford plush pets. I bought one before a while back and it was free shipping and it still cost over $20 CAD. Eeek!

gagagee—What a small world! Hope your nieces are enjoying Cincy. They are both excellent schools. DHs cousin went to one of those schools for nursing/nutrition. We weren’t living here yet, or I’m sure she would have stayed with us. Her job now is going around to different Senior Centers and designing nutrition programs. She loves it. Wishing you huge wacky wacks so you can get your trophy!!!
Miracle—I haven’t had any more luck with the fridges. Thankful I was able to win one earlier. That was on my 14th acct./try. I have 15 total accts. but that’s only for things I really really want. I only have time to maintain 3 or 4 accts.

hi everyone!
my honey’s sis left yesterday and now i feel like i need a vacation, lol. she’s very nice but not organized so we end up waking up early thinking we’re leaving with them to go somewhere by a certain time but we end up sitting and waiting an hour for them to get ready. then she gets her family lost using their gps when we’re supposed to meet somewhere in separate cars so we end up having to improvise retrace our steps and have lunch at 2pm nowhere near where we intended to go. she also somehow remembers to ask my hon about how to set up something on her iPhone just as we’re literally putting on our coats and walking out the door at 10pm so we end up staying later than we intended. now we just have to catch up with errands/foodshopping etc that we didn’t do while we were doing stuff or hanging out with them. i’m kinda glad they don’t visit that often. they’re nice but just a little all over the place.

i finally got the new fridge today after i read this post elsewhere. that was from at least 3 fizzes each on 6 different accounts so not a strong day but better than most.
“I have about a dozen accounts, it’s the snack machine I am having a rough go of getting. I found that if I feed the pets when they are:
#1) Hungry
#2) awake
#3) when they SPEAK (for example, after you feed a fizz, a pet says ‘Now THAT’S refreshing!”)
If they just smile at you, you’re wasting your fizz. If they talk, you’re on the right track, don’t feed any more than 7. I found it is usually within the first 3.
Don’t force them to talk, it doesn’t work. Come back later and try again.
Just got another one after feeding another pet 3 more.
And fed that same pet 6 of the orange ones and got the snack machine fridge.”

Gaga, what a neat idea to give the plush out for Halloween! But, even at that rate it would still take decades to get rid of my collection. I think we only get maybe 4 trick-or-treaters each year.
Dee, we usually put pork loin in the crock pot and shred it when done. We cover it in yellow mustard and add a hickory/brown sugar dry rub to it and wrap it in foil. It makes a nice LEAN pulled pork.
Thank you Zingy for the tips about when/how to feed fizz. I have been unlucky so far. We will see. Also, need to see if I have any Mayor’s boxes left. I love that snow globe!

I was starting to get a little worried, but I finally managed to score one today. Phew! With regard to my daughter, I’m so thrilled to be able to spend this time with her. I’ve had to work full time most of her life. To be able to spend so much time with her and her robotics team is magical for me, especially because she loves it as much as I do. She is applying to college this fall. It is very competitive for her to get in, but if she is accepted, she will leave home next summer. It will be hard enough to let her go when she is 18, but she will only be 16. She is growing up so fast. I don’t want to miss a single minute with her.

dee.. have tried grilling pork tenderloin two ways.. one with just salt/pepper..
which I though was pretty good. although I usually like thinks unspiced !!
also tried grilling after terriaki merinade .. added a little flavor !! Plain was better.

Boper, I just saw your wallpaper/flooring on FB. what kind of application are you using to create these? Are you going into graphic art? Your wallpapers remind me of some of my vacations to national parks (e.g. Badlands, Yosemite NP, Arches NP). Were they inspired by real places?

Shorty, I am glad you asked! All of them are based on national parks that I’ve been to, and more specifically they are based on pictures that I took while I was there. I made the templates for the walls/floors in Adobe Photoshop and painted the background in (i.e. the sky, or base colors for the flooring). Then I opened the template in Adobe Illustrator and just used the brush tool to paint in the physical features. I tried my best to match the features and colors from my photographs to make them realistic. And then at the very end, I put my almost-finished product back into photoshop to add shadowing and highlights. And then sometimes I would apply a series of filters to give it a more artistic effect but that was just a small aesthetic thing.
edit to add: No, I’m not really into computer graphics or art at all. I’m majoring in computer science but I took an online course in Photoshop and Illustrator just for funzies and was inspired to make these.
Thanks to everyone for the compliments. I know they are coming out with a canyon-like wallpaper in the eStore this month, but I think they must have already had that planned when I submitted these.

Wow, Boper, wow! Absolutely stunning room designs! You SO deserved to be featured, congratulations! I have been planning to buy some of those new National Park retro posters for our basement/tv room (which we have remodeled to look like a log cabin — love!) but I only have room for 4 and it is so hard to decide. Just drove through the Badlands for the first time a year ago, and I think South Dakota is one of the most amazing and beautiful areas I have ever seen. We were all hanging out the windows like such tourists, and hiked all over the place. So much fun. Wish I were rich and could do it every month. 🙂

Ruby, I enjoy reading about your dd robotics activities. We are starting a new jr. high program at our school, and my boys are too old for the class and they are disappointed. They have played around with the Lego Robotics kit some, and I need to get them involved somehow before they go off to college to make sure programming is something they will enjoy as a career.
Thanks for the fridge tips, zingy! I got 2 today, so it worked for me, and now I have an extra to share. I was feeding my pets when they were full, so getting them hungry first must have been the trigger. 🙂 Absolutely understand about loving family, but happy when they leave … 🙂

Anyone know of a good information source on the Webkinz Academy? Last time I went searching around, most of the information was outdated. Do you still get prizes after level 5? Is there any reason to get to level 10? Is it better to get one pet completely educated? or spread it around with a bunch of pets? I’m afraid I often neglect the Webkinz studies, but I really like those recess prizes, so I’d better get to work.

Miracle, you get a giftbox at level 10. You unlock pet actions at level 5.
I liked to use http://ant.igon.us/ to get tips for creativity class.

It also includes the recess prizes, but some of these are retired.
The easiest way to get to recess is just to fail any 3 classes with a pet. It will still count as going to school for the day if you fail. So I usually just pick the first 3 classes and quit out of them instantly. I’m not currently trying to educate my pets so I just do the quick & easy way of getting to recess. This is great too for other accounts where you don’t want to educate pets.

Boper, your designs are absolutely breathtaking. I hope they become available to all of us! I am a big fan of the National Parks system. I think my favorite so far was Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Oh and I never thought of failing the academy classes to get to recess. Thanks for the great idea.
zingy, is Dr Quack coming back to the park? I love that snowglobe! I usually open the regular click to win boxes so there isn’t so much extra stuff in my already over crowded dock. I have to learn to save some of them till the next time around.

Zingy, thank you for the tips on feeding soda. I did get one early on as soon as you said it was safe to feed but no more luck since then.
I had some Dr Quack boxes. No globes but I did get some cups. Thanks for letting us know.
Re. classes, I have been stuck on level 9 in strength for 3 years now. I win every now and then but still many more successful attempts needed to finally get to level 10.

LeeAnn, strength was always my hardest class too. I found that opening up a few WW accounts in the background (or something that sucks your internet like netflix or youtube) makes your computer go slower which helped make strength a little easier.
