Christmas in July
Not only have we been so fortunate to have an amazing SantaLurker to spoil us this month, but we also have a VERY generous Secret Santakinz who has provided us with an abundance of codes for Christmas giving!!! But that’s not all … several elves have stepped in with even more gifts of codes and pixels to join the celebration of Gymbo’s
So what do you need to do? Here are the instructions:
- Add Kinzheads to your WW friends list. We WILL NOT add you, so add us now or we will pass gifts for anyone missing from our friend’s list on to someone else.
- Include your WWID in your name on all of your comments. For example:Â momskinz (WWID: momsownkinz)
- Use your email address that is hidden behind your login or comment where you will receive any code gifts.
- Be prepared to email momskinz to claim your prize! Instructions will be provided, and you will have a limited time to respond. Check back here on the blog often this week.
- Comment and chat as usual! Be respectful and appreciative of our Santas and elves. We will have some random comment prizes as well as gifts, and our goal is try to give everyone who comments here some Christmas Cheer!

SantaLurker’s Christmas in July ROUND #17
THIS ROUND HAS SPECIAL RULES. Please read them and follow them. Thanks!
1) Maximum of ONE gift from this list per person, per day. You may ask for things from previous lists to fill up your box.
2) First come, first served.
3) There really is no “best things” in this round, because I had to pay real money to get all of them. So choose without worrying about that. 😉
4) Only ask for things for yourself that you don’t have. I’d prefer it if people weren’t asking for things they already have so that they can go trade them. That’s not the point of this particular round of the giveaway. If I wanted these clothes to be traded, I’d go trade ’em myself.
5) Add QueenieB15 to your phone, if I’m not on your phone already.
6) Be sure to give your WW ID each time you ask for your gifts. SantaLurker makes a list and checks it twice, but has a really bad memory and will not remember your ID unless you tell me!
7) And finally, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. People who do that will be banned from all my future giveaway rounds. Seriously.

dee.. whatcha cooking today ?? having cook out today… nephew has recommended a spice which he says has been on backorder for 6 months.. I ordered a “six pack” … made my Mortons.. It is cracked peppercorn and herbs… read the back of the bottle.. seems basic but will try today on beef tenderloin… the homegrown corn is now ready…lots of veg.stands so planning on serving that too …so good

SantaLurker, thank you SO much for sending me those items yesterday!! 🙂 I had no idea the Dragon Egg Music Box had a little Raziel inside of it! I just thought it was really pretty and wanted it ever since it was on one of the Super Wheels! And the window is going to go perfect in a room I’m building! The flowers are lovely as well! I have a thing for decorative foods and potted plants in WW!
I’m not sure who posted the picture of the new Galaxy Suit that’s soon to take the Golden Solar Suits place, but thank you!! I like this new suit even better than the current one!

dee, I agree that Ganz/Webkinz should have retired the Golden Solar Suit on August 21st for the eclipse instead of the 2nd. That would have been fun!
Miracle, I think an “end of the month” Peek-A-Newz prize swap is a great idea! 🙂 I personally haven’t opened any of my Peek-A-Newz boxes yet (not sure what I’m waiting for), but I think I’d be encouraged to open them if something like this happened!

Waiting for my hon to wake up and breakfast then we’re on to Legendary Raid Battles. Got 2 Articunos yesterday and hoping for a Lugia today. We spent all day in the park catching pokemon and they happened to have the pianos in the park event. It was nice hearing live music while walking around the Botanical Garden.

Good Sunday Morning(almost afternoon)
I got to sleep in until 10am today despite my kitten’s best effort to get me up at 8. Lol. We went to a retirement party last night for one of the chef’s my dh has worked with for over 25 years. It was a garden party and the sun came out for the duration. The family is vegetarian and the food was delicious. The hostess made an amazing vegetarian pate that I am going to beg for the recipe and then share here, yeah.
Thank you to everyone on the blog for all your positive energy I know it is helping because we have been having rain, little wind and cooler temps.
Thank you SantaLurker for everything. I wish you a very happy day and hope you get all the things you have secretly been wishing for.

Catmom.. food must have been amazing for a retiring chef.
Sunday is the day that I spend the most time preparing meals but I can’t get inspired as to what to make for dinner. I have tons of basil, so I know one side will be some kind of caprese salad with balsamic reduction. Lots of cherry tomatoes are ripe and ready. I love garden fresh veggies! That is as far as I have gotten though.

I am so heartbroken right now. Yesterday I shared with you all about Snooty, our county’s manatee turning 69. Today I have learned that he has passed away. They will hold a press conference soon but what appears to be the situation is that he got in to where the pluming was in the aquarium through and access panel that is usually bolted shut and was unable to get out to breath.

I would also love some organization tips. i tend to give each event its own room, with a place to decorate as well as store clothes and food. It makes my rooms a little cluttered-looking, but they are fairly organized. I thought some time ago, there was talk about WW letting us move our rooms around and upgrade small rooms to large, etc. Whatever happened with that? I would love to be able to put all my gardens together, Christmas rooms, etc.
LOL, man cold! So distinctly different from a mom cold or a kid cold. Mine has one this weekend, too, but so far he’s doing okay. He likes those Cold-eeze things … says they really work for him.

kgh, we usually go to various parks during the weekend to catch. yesterday, for the go fest event, we had a local group organize a meet and my hon and i clocked in 10,000 steps before 11:30am – that was a record for us but it gives you an idea of how much walking we do when we play. it also helps to coordinate with other people (we use a discord app for that) especially for raid battles.

Hi Nitabuggy, here are some things I do to make some recipes heathier: 1) substitute some of the fat and sugar with unsweetened applesauce, 2) substitute some of the butter with ground flax seed, and 3) substitute some of the flour with whole wheat flour. If a recipe calls for 1 cup of flour, I often modify it to use 1/2 cup of white flour and 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour. Ground flax seed goes rancid pretty quickly. I refrigerate this ingredient. Has anyone made a healthy chocolate cake using black beans? I have not tried this since it sounds strange and I am not sure about the shelf life of these kind of baked goods.

What a day!
My little grandson has worn me out again.
Next week we are making popsicle stick boats with rubber bands and dyeing eggs ( he found an old egg dyeing kit).
We made the Fluffy Slime but it was too sticky, maybe need to teak the recipe.
This one used shaving cream.
I love my time with my grandchildren.

I have baked banana bread with applesauce, ground flax seed, and whole wheat flour substitutions. The baking time is longer with whole wheat flour. The ground flax seed adds a nutty flavor. I have made healthy ice cream using avocados. 1 T of butter can be substituted with 3 T of ground flax seed. Don’t substitute out too much of the oil/butter with ground flax seed since it would result in dry baked goods. You can also easily add some ground flax seed and whole wheat flour to pancakes. I used to do a lot of recipe modifications, but these days, I mostly only do the whole wheat flour substitution. If I eat something unhealthy one day, I try to eat a bowl of oatmeal (not instant) with fresh fruit the next day. Eating oatmeal on a regular basis helps lower cholesterol.

I got a legendary Pokemon today the Articuno. We were in Frankenmuth and since it is a tourist town they have a lot of gyms. Groups of locals were meeting up to battle the gyms so we were able to join in with them. We fought three legendaries the first one was a different kind but there weren’t enough of us. We won the second two YD got an Articuno the first win and I got it the second. I feel bad hubby and OD are the two that play the most and neither one of them managed to catch it after the battle.

We only get a partial eclipse but the library is hosting an eclipse gathering and handing out glasses. So that is our plan for the day. YD will be at marching band camp so it will just be OD and I, with maybe a friend of hers. We will be driving OD to University the week after that.
My friends from England are coming to the US for the eclipse he is a physicist and into astronomy. But they will be in Georgia. I helped research locations for them months ago and Nashville was on their consideration list. They had been there before though so decided to fly into Florida and take the train up to Georgia instead. It is the location most likely to have cloud cover so not sure if they made the best choice. Hopefully it will be clear.

I make the Banana Banana Banana bread recipe I make from the Allrecipes with modifications suggested by people reviewing the recipe. To make the recipe healthier, you would need to come up with substitutions for the flour, butter, and brown sugar. I make these modifications to the recipe: 1) substitute out half of the flour with whole wheat flour, 2) substitute out part or all of the butter with unsweetened applesauce and ground flaxseed, 3) reduce the baking soda from 1 t to 1/2 t per reviewer comments, and 4) add 1/2 t nutmeg, 1 t vanilla, and 1 t cinnamon. Some experimentation is needed to figure out how much of the butter to substitute out. 1 T butter = 3 T ground flax seed. I have only used 3 T of ground flaxseed in my recipe. Sometimes I add mini chocolate chips or walnuts, but that makes this a higher calorie food (if you are counting calories). Normally, I read through the recipe review comments at the allrecipes web site to see what kind of modifications people are making to recipes.

I was hoping to get some weeding done today but it is raining so I’ll busy myself with indoor things I guess.. like playing WW lol.
Last night I just decided to have caprese salad, grilled veggies, baby potatoes and cedar plank salmon smothered in fresh dill. I LOVE summer cooking.
Thank you Dee and Shorty for the recipes. I was reading about all those desserts while cooking dinner and between the visuals in my head and the smell on the bbq, I was dying of hunger.
I think I may try the “healthy” version of banana bread. The one I use is from an old German lady that her grandma gave her but is uses ALOT of butter. The only thing healthy in it is banana.

Banana Bread, Snickers salad, I’m so hungry! My banana bread recipe has 6 bananas in it. Along with tons of butter and sugar…I don’t think it qualifies as healthy.

I normally do not substitute out all of the butter in my recipes because I still want my baked goods to taste good. I think that I substituted out 50% of the butter in the banana bread recipe. I also like baking pumpkin bread in the fall.

Pokemon- I did one articuno battle yesterday with 10 others and we beat it with about half the time remaining. I didn’t catch it after though 🙁
Then walked to another articuno raid nearby and attempted to beat it, but there were only 8 of us and I was the highest level at 31 so we didn’t stand much of a chance. We had about 20% remaining when time ran out.

Do you like your instant pot, moms? I hear it has a cult following. we have several pressure cookers (honey likes them as everything goes much faster and oxtail has a much better texture when cooked in them) but don’t know if there’s something that we can do in an instant pot that we can’t do in a regular pressure cooker.
We did several raids yesterday – we weren’t sure how long the legendaries would last (no official word from Niantic if they’re here just for 48 hours or to stay and be very rarely scheduled after today). After 2 Articunos (we had a huge crowd for both and I caught both), we went to the tail end of a Lugia and it was a disaster. We barely had enough people for a Lugia and this woman kept going into the lobby with us as if she was going to battle then she would stop battling, waiting for help that never came. Then the timer ended and the raid battle was no longer available even if we wanted to retry. That was a waste of a ticket. So we learned to only to those raids that have just begun so we were sure to find more people coming to help and went to 7 more Lugia raid battles. My honey kept catching Lugia after Lugia but I had no luck getting one yesterday. Finally, this morning, we tried again and I finally caught one. Not the best Lugia by far, I have to use a Fast TM to fix the moves but it’s going to be treasured like TLL’s gifts.

I have been redecorating Webkinz rooms all day trying to get organized. Finished my Rocky Park for this year … I liked the wallpaper they gave us. Makes it all misty-looking.
Tomorrow I am organizing for a used book donation sale at our church this weekend to raise money for our school library. People have been donating books all year and it is always fun to get them all out, organize them, and help people find something they love. But so many boxes to go through! I’ll drag my kids along to help me, so hopefully they can help with the hauling. I always enjoy reading and organizing children’s books for the sale. Any readers here? Read anything interesting lately?

I’ve been reading some of the many cooking comments. Perhaps someone can give advice to a person who is definitely not a cook. I love zucchini but usually do the same thing over and over. I give it a quick stir in olive oil, toss in some tomato and onion and sprinkle on some random seasoning. Is there anything specific that would be good with it? Or a different way you prepare it that isn’t complicated? Advice would be appreciated.

Wow, SantaLurker! I think you are the most generous person I have ever encountered!!! 🙂 Wish we had more people like you in real life that were as generous. There really are so many people on this planet that are lacking simple, basic things like clean water, food, shelter, etc. and I just know if everyone who did have these things helped out/helped out a little more, we could truly change the world!

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought someone would be so nice and send me things I’ve always wanted but thought I’ve never get without even wanting anything in return. As for today’s Christmas in July round, could I please have the Springtime Bed and the Duckling Rain Hat from yesterday’s list? I was so excited about the Cotton Candy Dress, I didn’t even see that hat. I tried trading for that hat a while ago, but no one seemed to have one for trade.

dee – nothing is instant, but it does cook things very fast without heating up the whole kitchen & is safe (unlike the old timey things)
zingy – i don’t know if it is any different than any other pressure cooker – i think that’s the “name brand” of this kind but not that it is unique … although IP users take this business very seriously, i think it’s just a pressure cooker but it does have a saute feature to brown, sear, or saute & a slow cook setting too
all I have done with mine so far is make spaghetti, but it made good one pot spaghetti from start to finish pretty fast and with only one pot to clean, no colander or anything …

moms, back when I was trying to bake with more healthy ingredients, I made an olive oil chocolate chip zucchini bread. I liked it, but I guess it tasted too healthy for the rest of my family. There was no butter in the recipe. =)

I bought one of those “veghetti” things………five bucks……stick your veg in there and turn it and it comes out looking like spaghetti……works on cukes too and that is all I have used it for. my betty crocker cookbook has a recipe for zucchini cookies……..

It’s been a long day. My father-in-law had cataract surgery on his right eye that has problems with his retina and has been told he may not have much improved vision after surgery because of this but it will help with the retina specialist being able to visualize the retina to continue the injections he has been receiving. It’s been less than a week since the surgery and he’s been complaining that the vision is not better yet (which is to be expected) and has been giving my mother-in-law grief about the preop for the left eye cataract (he wants to wait until the right eye is improved which may or may not, given his current retina condition). Meantime she is the one who is concerned because he has been unable to see well and he has a tendency to get up and wander in the middle of the night by himself. Just hoping that our talking to him tonight will ease his concerns about the the left eye surgery so that he can get done and see better at least in one eye.
And did I mention he has trouble forming new memories due to his brain surgery for a tumor over a year ago? Wondering if we should have made a video of all the reassurances we gave him in case he changes his mind again right before the surgery.
BTW bat signal may only be good until midnight KT (hopefully it’s at least til am) so don’t wait.

Hi all. I am new to this forum and want to say hi. I have been playing Webkinz for several years, and I added Kinzheads to my friends list, even though I don’t know who you are. Over the years, when doing general searches about Webkinz items, I have been directed to this website, but I always thought it was just a running blog. I never realized there was a message forum here, but recently I checked this forum out at the recommendation of a friend in WW, and I discovered this forum. I hope to get to know some of you!

zingyginger – I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law’s condition. My grandfather actually just had cataract surgery, too, but thankfully things turned out a bit better for him. I think you should go ahead and make that reassurance video just in case and give it to your mother-in-law to hold onto. That way she can have it on hand in case your father-in-law changes his mind at the very last second.
Patsie – Sorry you can’t sleep! I feel for you. I know how miserable it can be to try to sleep only to toss and turn and not be able to shut down your brain/body. Hopefully you are getting some rest by now!
SantaLurker – Strawberries! Because there are 6 and a half strawberries in this “berry veggie†juice smoothie I am drinking right now! And now the “long awaited†story of how I got into Webkinz and a bit about myself:
The year was 2008 and Webkinz was still fairly new (wow this is already so cheesy). I hadn’t a clue Webkinz even existed until one day, my usually very unlucky self, won a raffle. And the prize: my first ever Webkinz. I adopted my Webbie, a beautiful black bat with lovely emerald eyes and everything took off from there. When my birthday rolled around a month later, a friend got me the recently retired Fantail Goldfish and another friend gave me a gift card (because that is what I had told her I wanted) to go buy something on my own. And of course I went out and bought a Webkinz Pig! Who wouldn’t? Not all that much longer, I went to Walgreens where they were having a sale on Lil’ Kinz and bought my first ever Lil’ Kinz pets: a Lil’ Kinz Elephant and a Lil’ Kinz Basset Hound. Walgreens had another deal come Christmas time and I got a Lil’ Kinz Koala, a Lil’ Kinz Golden Retriever, a Lil’ Kinz Polar Bear, and a Lil’ Kinz Panda, all of which came in these cute little Webkinz Christmas bags (papers ones, not fabric or anything). The rest of it is kind of a blur from there… As for the actual game, I used to always go to my local library to play and take care of Webbies. Then I became friends with someone who lived near by me and also played Webkinz. We took turns getting on Webkinz at her house because she had Internet and I didn’t. Our friendship blew up after about a year and a half, though, and (obviously) I could no longer play at her house. So for about two years, I stopped playing Webkinz altogether. It was only during a really rough patch (I would say it was probably the worst year of my life) that I remembered about my Webkinz account and thought to check and see if it was still there. I was surprised to find my Webkinz account in tact (and several “your account will expire in x amount of days†messages in my Kinzpost). Of course I adopted a new pet and eventually started to get into Deluxe. In 2015, I opened a Free account. After about two months, I caved and bought two virtual pets and made the account a Full Membership account. It took a while, but I got used to managing two account. Fast forward to this past May, I opened another Free account. Currently it is still Free and only has the one pet on it, but I’ve definitely been thinking about adopting a Webbie on that account. Fast forward to this exact moment in time, I have my three accounts with a total of 72 ADOPTED pets spread across them (I have plenty of unadopted pets that I’m waiting to see if they become Pet of the Month, etc.), and I play Webkinz every. single. day. I also do my best to get on Webkinz Newz and do my usual “routine†there every day. Oh, and I almost forgot! Somewhere along the line in my Webkinz timeline, I made another (real life) friend who also plays Webkinz! We meet up every now and again, and we sometimes buy each other Webkinz pets for special occasions (you know, birthdays and that kind of stuff). But yeah, that’s basically my Webkinz “origin story†(and beyond lol). Outside of Webkinz, I watch a lot of television shows and movies ranging in target-age and content. I enjoy shopping, traveling, sleeping (when I actually can lol), and I like to think I am a kind, loyal, intelligent, and logical human being. I can be rude and lose my temper sometimes, but usually only when someone I really love/am really close with is REALLY irritating me. And last but not least, I am slowly transitioning into a Vegan lifestyle so I really love all the talk about healthier foods and ingredient substitutions on here! Keep ‘em coming you guys!

Boysenberry – The yogurt flavor I bought every day for lunch back in the 80s, while I played the old text “Colossal Cave Adventure” game on my green screen Wang computer. Those were the days! To this day, when I eat it, I am immediately transported back to those moments.

Can I make a request? Would it be possible for people to add the date they last updated their wish lists? I’m clicking through them, and have a few items I could send out; however, some lists have creation dates of early 2015 and I can’t tell if they’ve been updated since that time. I’m not sure I want to send something out if the person is no longer active, or has already received it, but hasn’t updated their list. Or maybe an admin can move all the lists that have been updated in the past few months to the top of the feed? Is there a way to tell otherwise?

michele – i remember those toddler days and cooped up with it too hot to run around outside – do you have access to a pool? i used to put mine in water on those hot days that they needed to burn energy – a pool, a bubble bath, a kiddie pool in the yard – as a matter of fact a couple of summers ago with them as tween/teens, I took off and came back with a little pool, squirt guns, sprayers, and water balloons

Loving the unusual berries that make me laugh. Mine is Goblin fruit berries, highly addictive and deadly to humans and changelings but a wonderful gift of dreams for pureblood Fae. Segway to the book series I am re-reading because book 11 releases in September. The author is Seanan McGuire and the main character’s name is October Daye. Awesome very fast paced series set in modern San Francisco. Just as good or better second time reading.
I do not have a wish list because I am currently only looking for one thing, a red mushroom house. I have bought more than ten of the mystery bags and no luck. My ID is ggmomcat and I would like everyone who isn’t my friend to please send me a friend request. I have lot’s of stuff to share and would like to send everyone here a gift to celebrate all the Joy we share every day.

blackberry – my honey’s favorite berry. i always worry he’s going to come home full of thorns when we hike as i can’t stop him from going thru bushes just to pick ripe wild berries near the trail.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts for my father-in-law! We hope he’ll do much better with his left eye that hasn’t been affected by as much retina problems but it’s so very hard to explain to him the rationale for doing both eyes in close succession (right eye so the retina specialist can treat it and left eye so he can regain useful vision). Then, when we think he finally gets it, his memory doesn’t hold much new information so we’re almost back to square one. It’s almost like Fifty First Dates with Drew Barrymore without the cute outfits and funny scenarios. We’re very fortunate that my mother-in-law is healthy and has so much patience and energy (she still runs down several flights of steps in a flash to open the door) to take care of all his medical needs plus babysit my energetic 5 yo niece most days.
Thanks so much for the lovely Christmas in July treats, shelly! Will have to make a room with them in it.

Peanuts, you need to add an “insert read more tag” … when you’re editing your list, put your cursor where you want it to add it. Then above your text box, click on the second formatting icon from the right (if you hover over them, they will tell you what they do). HTH!

Just a heads up – alas, it will take a bit of time to get everyone’s FR’s accepted. There are currently 26 (yes, twenty-six, not including Wophy) FRs and there is a glitch that allows kinzheads to accept only one FR at each log in. I really wish Ganz would fix this already; it’s been going on for a while.
Also, there are a bunch that I have not seen before nor have I seen them comment on the blog so unless someone pipes up and says it belongs to them, the FRs will not be accepted and will eventually be deleted.
As momskinz said, this is a comment contest, breathing is not a requirement but making a comment is (to be eligible for prizes).

Candyx3, I’m good all things considered. Where did you go camping? My hon’s family is trying to organize a weekend in Yosemite if we can get a place to stay overnight. Should be beautiful this year with all the rain we had earlier. I think it’s still spring there (their season’s a bit delayed especially in the High Sierras).

I totally drain the tomatoes and do 2/3 c of the oats……..
we are Yankees and are used to a dry meatloaf (that you smother in gravy) and this is definitely southern that you can get anyplace here at lunch….they make it, chill it, slice it, then fry it and serve with whatnot (pinto beans, greens etc)………the topping sauce is wonderful and I was telling dd that it is a good bbq substitute if you live in a dorm or do not have a whole cabinet devoted to spices like I do………hmmm………makes me want to do a spice contest (ala cheese whiz)

zingy……..you can make it with ground turkey or chicken or whatever my dd uses for ground meat equivalent……..that may affect baking time
but yeah, write down that topper sauce for other stuff and it is pretty easy
dh and I went out earlier and went to lunch at a nicer fast food place!
so I was totally scarfing all the mustard, hot sauce packs for dd to take back to college!

Strawberry – I missed the strawberry season in June, such a short season here. I like to buy locally is I can.
I miss making trips to Hallmark with my granddaughter and looking at all the new Webkinz. It was a fun time for all of us. So many years ago, 9 years have passed and she is no longer interested in Webkinz. This blog has kept the WW alive for me or I would have quit a long time ago.

I know it will make my sleep schedule even wackier than usual, but I really feel like I got some good, deep sleep and I had lots of dreams! That’s always a plus!
