Christmas Cookies!
A lot of us have been baking this week. This is a photo of the Spritz that I made. Here’s the recipe I use:
Spritz Cookies
1 cup soft butter
2/3 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
Heat oven to 400. Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla thoroughly. Work in flour. Force through cookie press onto ungreased baking sheet in desired shapes. (If you want the cookies red or green, divide and add food coloring, but will probably require extra flour. If dough is too sticky, mix in a little extra flour.) Bake 7 to 10 minutes until set but not brown. Makes about 6 dozen.

I made white chocolate cranberry cookies today. Somtimes I add macadamia nuts. See http://allrecipes.com/recipe/10917/white-chocolate-and-cranberry-cookies/. I reduce the brown sugar to 1/3 cup and the white sugar to 1/3 cup. I also use 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. The original recipe is too sweet for me.

Wow, I did baking a few days ago and today, a few days ago I went to Sobey’s and bought my favourite ice box cookies, and white chocolate cranberry. And today I went to Metro and bought Tarts lol. I am not much of a baker, but I think I am gonna start trying.

350 degrees for 26-28 minutes or browned…..you can add toppings….I added the dulches leches stuff and had half the dough in 13×9 and crumbled rest of dough on top.
they had a rugleach ?? one with apricot jam and nuts….like I said I will google for it

We usually make spritz cookies to counter the egg whites in the chocolate mint meringue cookies my fam makes. Not a lot of people eat the spritz tho so idk this year. Already made choco covered coconut balls, maybe the peanut butter ones next.

That is almost more upsetting that seeing one scurry across the room… I am so freaked out right now… I feel like moving !! I sort of blame my neighbor who could be seen everyday feeding the geese on the pond grain by the pound and bread by the loaves !!! I even asked her one day to stop feeding the mice !!! She had the nerve to say that the geese would eat everything she had put down… Unfortunately she left enough for ALL the Canada geese in Canada.

gagagee, there is NEVER just one mouse. I live in farm country, so I know what I’m talking about. During your running around today, buy a bunch of glue traps and when you get home, put the glue traps down along the perimeter of your walls. Mice always run along walls because they have so many predators. If you have a dog, don’t leave his food bowl on the floor because the mice will eat it, and if you have a pet bird, take its seed out of the cage at night, because mice are excellent climbers. I hope Mickey and company part ways with you soon!

not sure where ya live (urban or rural), but one main thing my dh does is put steel wool around all the outgoing pipes (kitchen, water heater etc)….mickeys do not like
and I think snakes eat mice…altho personally I would prefer mice……

gramma.. good morning… Mickey is still here….so disrupting .. feeling so
afraid in my own home.. I really have a phobia and always have.. Will wait till it is light out to check the traps that my bro and I set yesterday.. Spent most of the time standing on the dining room chair !!! while he worked..
dee . I sort of live in small suburb.. but I have a field behind my townhome..
I hear cold weather brings them in but I have NEVER had this problem before..
I still blame my neighbor who was feeding the geese buckets of grain !!
Did go to Home Depot yesterday.. bought something you plug into an outlet that emits “sound” which they don’t like……however……it doesn’t work!!
Sorry to keep talking about this but it overwhelms me.. Hard to believe that such a small creature can cause such havoc in one’s life !!!
Few more errands to run this morning… food prep to take to my sisters for the festivities later..

gaga, maybe you need a kitty? hmmm. Xena the Warrior Princess does a good job with the moles in the yard. Not that I appreciate her bringing carcasses to the doorstep, but she’s a good hunter. A varmint would have to be loco to dare come in the house. 🙄

Gagagee, i know how ya feel. We’ve had mice problems but those never got to me since they were outside or the garage. but when i lose track of a spider, hell hath no fury….*shudders* that arachnophobia tho. Lol my dog has caught a few rodents, ya want her instead of a cat? She practically is one.

for squirrels, my dh has tried irish spring soap and mothballs….his cars sit outside and they chew wires like nothing on his truck……..not sure how well it works, but his cars reek of moth balls……….
