   Thanks Bepsy. Turns out I did need to update my wish list. I think it is correct now. I didn’t have what you sent. Kind of annoyed with myself saw a couple of those rares come up on the twitter and didn’t remember I needed them oops.

    I have seen folks on tv use it………..and had a class or four use it for speakers……..but actual sit down………..

    I know we have it on our laptop and dd used it for classes. How do you “call” the other person? Yes I can google, but figured you all could provide me with the “ideeiot” version!

    I’m hoping that you guys might be able to give me some advice on something. Right now i’m living in an apartment with my boyfriend, but i’m considering ending the relationship soon because things aren’t going well and i need to move on with my life. The problem is that our lease isn’t up until the end of september. Neither of us can afford to stay in the apartment on our own so we would need to break the lease. How would i go about doing that and how much do you think it’ll cost me? I already have the rent for june put aside, so that’ll be paid, but that’ll still leave 3 months (july-september)

    Dee- I’ve only used tinychat (another video chatting website) but i think you skype you make an account and connect with the other person through that account? Maybe? I’m probably not the best person to ask

    We’ll have to ask my 4 year old niece how she uses skype. She has been using it on an iPad since she was 2 y to talk to her grandparents who live in Prague (cheaper than long distance). The only thing was she doesn’t quite get the time difference so she’s puzzled when they don’t respond. It’s pretty much what Choco said, sign up for an account and talk with another person who also has skype. Haven’t used it in years since Facetime came out but I don’t think skype has changed much.

    Choco, sorry to hear about the relationship. About the lease, the main thing your landlord is concerned with is making money from a lease. You can try to explain the situation and either post a listing for your place for new tenants OR the landlord can list the apartment and you can offer to show the place (and make sure it’s presentable) OR sublet the place (can be dicey if the sublet tenants don’t pay up and you’re responsible for the rent).

    Bottomline: depending on where you live (state/local rules vary), you’re responsible for paying your rent up until the time you or your landlord finds a subletter or new renter.

    I’ve used Skype a little and yes you make an account and connect with the other person through that. It was really easy to use. You can talk to them just typing too. My hubby used it to talk to a friend of his while they played on line video games using the service. My OD uses it pretty much daily to talk to one of her friends. I used head phones but they usually just talk to each other through their lap tops. I can hear her friend talking just fine across the room. You have to friend the person for them to be able to talk to you. People you don’t know can ask to friend you but you just say no. I only had a couple contact me hubby said they were likely business trying to sell new skype members things. If you don’t want video a post it note over the camera works well. There maybe a way to have audio but not video I didn’t bother to try and figure it out. We mostly used the typing feature.
