The First Day of School
IÂ used to be little, but not anymore,
This morning I got up and walked out the door,
I’m here at school, it’s the first time for me,
It’s great to be big, but I’m scared as can be.
My tummy’s in knots, do you want to know why?
i’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, I’ll cry
When dad leaves the school and I’m here all alone,
I’m thinking that maybe I’ll want to go home.
But wait, Mommy said I’ll play lot’s of new games,
And meet lots’ of friends, I’ll learn all their names,
The first day of school, oh there’s so much to do!
There’s painint and books and neat playground tool!

This is what my 5yr old daughter brought from Kindergarten yesterday, she didn’t write it (it was given to all the kids in her class to bring home) 🙁

you know how i said i never find charms yesterday or the day before???? well, yesterday, the first time i searched that day, i found a charm i needed!! then, the second time i searched, i found another charm i needed!!! but then the third time i searched, i got a bad fary……. then today, the first time i searched, i got another bad fairy…….so maybe my luck is changing!

My daughter’s 3 year old preschool teacher wrote this poem years ago. She gives it to all the kids on the last day of school. I thought it would make a good companion to gymbo’s school poem about the first day of Kindergarten. Here is last day of preschool.
Yesterday I came to school,
And I was very small.
I had some tears and worries,
I wasn’t sure at all.
What will I be doing here?
Who will be with me?
What will Mommy go and do?
Do “they” know I’m only three?
Well yesterday was months ago,
I’m bigger, smarter, stronger.
I walk right in and greet the day,
I’m not worried any longer.
I line up straight and listen,
I play and work and share,
I clean up when the bell rings,
I show how much I care.
But now I have to say “good-bye”,
So my teacher’s sad today,
So I’ll just have to hug her,
And tell her “it’s OK”.

Very funny Cody, I get what you mean but I reread it and I can’t figure out where to put a comma to make it not mean both. Her preschool teacher from last year is almost old enough to be your grandmother. She is a sweet lady, my older daughter had her for preschool too.
