Okay I’d like an opinion
Tomorrow ds class has a field trip to a museum. Two hours away. The school the school decided the after the museum they would take the kids to go swimming in the ocean. Ds is not a good swimmer and does not want to go in the ocean or sit on the beach roasting for hours. So he isn’t going. Soooo the school decided that anyone not going has to write Whatan essay ON THIER OWN TIME ….AND clean up and do work around the school tomorrow. I told him he needed to do the essay but didn’t have to go to school. They actually sent me a letter saying he needed to be in school and do the labor. I would like your input on this.

gwenda- well that doesn’t sound fair. have you considered telling the school that ds is not a good swimmer, and that’s why he doesn’t want to go? i mean, there should be a separate bus that takes students home after the museum, if they don’t want to swim or can’t. students shouldn’t have to work manual labor just because they don’t want to go a field trip.

I agree, no way my girls would be going to school in that situation. YD thinks it is stupid and not fair. If a little kid can see that. At her school if someone can not go on a field trip they go and sit in another classroom and read. Sounds like they had a larger than usual number of students not wanting to go on this trip.

Gwenda, can you pick hm up after the museum? If you can, go along to the museum and then just take him home. He gets the educational part of the trip and not the play part.
If not, then a research project on similar subject to the museum trip, but cleaning duties NO WAY. Punishment is not ok.
I would call and superintendent and visit the next school board meeting if not call those people too.

i’m talking about emails created at sites like mailinator or dispostable and those mailboxes self-destruct within a short period of time
