Dee – I do have my plans in place. I have the extra water, gas, lighters, batteries, firewood, ice melt, sand, food – lots of food, blankets, etc.

@ dee #3 we have one of those radios it is great.
It will also charge a cellphone for emergency.
We used that radio to entertain ourselves, after Sandy, no Internet, TV, and darkness gets to you after 13 days of no electric.
We also used our hot shower water to help heat the house, we have a gas water heater, trapped the water, shut off excess rooms. Trapped hot water in the tub a few times a day.
So if you have a master bedroom with a tub and gas hot water heater. You can keep that area warmer..

Sorry I’ve not been around lately..just so busy these days!
hope everyone is doing well???
ok what I am reading ??? is the power out for you moms?
I am Sooooooooo out of touch sorry!
we are doing ok here mild winter so far..really thought we would get hit bad .
the guys JUST fixed the snow blower here after it stopped running end of Last winter..geesh.. they got tired of using my toro snow thrower..but lucky we had it! no power outages so far this winter for us, knock on wood!
I have been keeping up with WW and WF but barely finding time to decorate right now, sigh.
so did you all see the new animal the Grumpy cat? I have to get it!! too cute!
oh well anywho..I’m off to make the meatballs and shake shake shae the Kahlua! HUGS to you all!

Dang, GA is not prepared for extreme winter weather, not like Ohio… YIKES!
Kerosine stove… crank flashlights… can charge phones, etc from the car battery (if you don’t have to go outside to get to the car) Car adapter to be able to charge from a regular wall plug..

Hey Krafty! when Sandy blew through dh ran out to get car chargers for our phone. Weather people listed it as a preparedness thing. ‘Course you need gas in the vehicle; but you can charge the phone. moms got me through Sandy!! 🙂

that reminds me, we have two of the vehicles full, but i need to fill mine – it has a 1/2 tank
just because it takes us a bit to recover and get gas trucks, etc. back in to refill stations …
i have the adapters for car charging, and i have a ton of battery operated candles, flashlights, so i think we’ll be okay without the crank. realistically, even if we lose power for some time, we will thaw in a couple days and can always get relief even if it means traveling south 🙂

dh’s phone is going off with weather alerts. he downloaded an app. our weather is supposed to be iffy Wed/Thurs. voice on app sounds kinda dire; weather channel isn’t so bad.

anyone have valentines plans?
dh should be better……so we hope to check out a local food place for lunch. Last year, he took me to one that is supposed to be soooooooo good.
half the staff had not shown up for work that day (it was really nice weather) and food took forever…….and was just good…not great or good enough to go back……….I do not understand how owners handle that (or do not handle that)…..my uncle owned a restaurant and one of my first jobs was washing dishes there. by hand! then worked up to hostess on busy nites and waitress during lunches. If anything happened, he or me was around to apologize, give a free drink or dessert……….ya know?

i use tv & radio as well as noaa & a weather blog from a meteorologist
he is saying 1/2″ of ice topped with 4″ of snow
the snow would shut down the city – the ice is a potentially “historically catastrophic” event …

I did not click on any of the baby block things……….not into the baby thing, but I do try to accumulate stuff for my fellow gymbo folks……..some things work on ie and some things work on chrome and I get tired of flipping back and forth (sorry zingy, I am sure there is an easier way to do it)

Bob has to go to dialysis and I don’t know what they will decide to do if we can’t get there.

kgh – do you have a gas cooktop?
i have the makings for soup in case we lose power b/c it is an easy cooktop thing …
today i think i am going to make pot roast in the crock pot while we have power – i usually just add my own spices, an onion, and a bit of water but today i want to try the one with the three packets – one hidden valley, one italian, one brown gravy – i’ll throw in carrots and potatoes
i used to make a veggie soup with leftovers from pot roast, but the last couple of times i made pot roast, there weren’t leftovers. these boys are meat eaters! 🙂
i have sandwich makings – kaiser rolls, summer sausage, cheese, etc. then the storm junk food – bagels, hostess cupcakes, doritos, coke, chocolate 🙂

My Birthday and Valentines looks like we will be next LOL might still be home for Valentines 😉
I think work will be open for my birthday -depends on the timing of Momz storm
coming up the coast.
We are moving the grill closer to the house, in case we lose power, we dig out to the grill because we can make coffee and food 🙂
Our grill and catching hot water in tub was priceless during our Sandy Outage. 🙂
