A Kansas company has recalled approximately 50,000 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday.

yes, lol, apparently i’m the only one wondering. slow day today. yes, moms is an angel and an inspiration for being able to wrangle with us all on top of the grands and kiddos.
i just look up stuff as they come up. it’s amazing how much i learned from trying to deal with ganz glitches and mostly absent customer service (even when phone reps were available sometimes it seemed like the lights were on but nobody was home).
um cat toys for kitten about to be booted out? either it means dh got outvoted by 2 women or you have some nice parting gifts for kitty to bring to her new home.

our main cat (and skitty kitty) never got into laser things or catnip scented bubbles or anything like that.
main cat is old school and likes string….skitty kitty loves webkinz…she “catches” them and then beats the snot out of them….it is funny as we will all be watching tv and we hear her in the other room tossing them all around……

We need to go north this weekend… there is a fun event at PatCatans we’d like to go to on Saturday, have to get FFQ’s other summer school assignment book. I think that is outrageous that some of the teachers assign work for the kids to do over the summer…

No she isn’t but this girl is a huge reader, she finally got an ereader and though she had wanted one badly she found that she prefers a real book in her hands.
I generally get the girls workbooks to do over the summer so they can get a jump on the next grade.. then when they have the lesson in school it is relearning and easier for them.. makes it easy to add other activities during the school year without taking away from their learning.

One friend of FFQ’s spent several weeks doing the history assignment and still has the english one to do … that is so not right… reading assignments would be one thing but papers, journals, etc… wayyy too much.

interesting about the coconut theme-the items at the estore are mostly 6000 to 7000 points. i think what they meant about the new theme being made available to everyone means that right now only deluxe members can buy them at the eStore but later on everyone can buy them (also at the eStore). would love to have them available for kc or free from wkn later on like they’re saying on wi but i think that’s mostly wishful thinking.
it’s great that your girls are big readers, krafty, and that they do the workbooks over the summer. i agree that papers are a bit much but it appears there is a correlation between the shorter school year in the u.s. and decreased performance compared to other developed nations:

school supplies are ready to go now – whew! i was worried about that, i was letting my calendar get to full and my to do list wasn’t getting any shorter π
i always give my kids summer work from me, but i’ve had them do less this summer than ever, so we’ll see if it bites us or not – they are good students, so i just like to keep them “up” on basic math skills, etc.

Our school years are not shorter.. they are longer. The kids aren’t learning more in general and they are definitely not mastering skills. They don’t spend enough time for the kids to get a good grasp on skills (mostly math though others too) they gets bits and pieces here and there… then they teacher the same thing again the next year but still not completely…
The education system needs a huge overhaul.

the u.s. spends nearly twice as much per student compared to south korea but the results are in the middle of the pack. and there’s no fundamental change in sight, just more of the throwing money at the problem.

dee, i was thinking of you when i made dinner last night. tuna in olive oil mixed with lemon zest and lemon juice plus some minced garlic (maybe a little extra thrown in for good measure). i added this to farfalle and arugula. it was yummy!
i’m off kitchen duty this weekend. dinner with my honey’s folks tonight (his mom’s a great cook), going out with friends tomorrow and a family event sunday.

real slow day at work and it appears to be a slow day on the blog too
i finally got so see the entire screen on my netbook to play the wheel of deluxe at lunch thanks to mike webkinz on fb (apparently i should have set the screen resolution higher, not lower).
also was finally able to play skater kat and got to level two, woot! it really helps to have a super slow laptop. not holding my breath on that trophy, though. did anyone ever win it on gymbo’s, moms?

Zingy I have a super slow computer..still can’t do skater kat!!!! I think mine may be TOO slow if that is possible?
well with everything else I have been doing lately I decided to um..whiten up the old grout in the bathroom..have to do it by hand with a special grout paint and sealer and it going to take me literally 3 weeks to do and it’s a small room! was ambitious for me for sure as I can only sit on the hard floor for 1/2 hour at a time if I am lucky I might be able to get up with out help! but it’s going to look like brand new and I will say that it will be worth the pain in the end. Since we moved in here I have hated how old it looked. I just hope that it stays looking good for a long time as I don’t want to have to keep redoing it.
other then that still working in my craft room..sigh so much to go through still.
but I have been getting out more and saw a couple of movies recently. I saw Grown Ups 2 and was ROFL big time. and last night we saw 2 Guns..it was ok..really wanted to see Wolverine or the Conjuring but we had gotten there to late to see those ones as it was a spur of the moment decision to go.
I am happy to say that my guy has a new job that has NORMAL hours and we are actually starting to have a social life.. shocking I know! lol
