Do you and yours have any particular traditions you do every holiday season? Have you started any new ones? Any handed down from older folks?

My dd always gets an advent calendar with chocolate. In the past we have had Lego ones, Polly Pocket ones and Little Pet Shop ones.
But always the chocolate kind.

hi, momsk!
holiday tradition is having christmas eve dinner together with immediate family then spending christmas day with other relatives and friends.
this year i made marmalade cake and my sister poached some pears to serve with it along with some freshly whipped cream.

i’ve never made it before so i don’t know how it tastes yet until tonight but boy did it fill the place with wonderful smells while i was toasting the almonds in the oven and cooking the orange and lemon on the stovetop.

Merry Christmas Eve!!!
our girls, their husbands, the grands, and my mom come for Christmas Eve around 5ish for supper/nibbles. tried to keep it simple this year. dh had other ideas and did his own shopping. he made bread pudding this morning. he has shrimp, cheeses, salami, and olives and whatever else I don’t know about. I’m making a pot of chili and a huge salad. dd2 is making hoagie dip(kind of a hoagie all chopped up small to put on slices of bagette bread). dd2 said dd1 is bringing 47 salad toppings. surely an exaggeration…
very early Christmas morning the girls and their families, all in their Christmas jammies, come back. dh makes a cook to order breakfast; everyone telling him what they want, and he cooks it. potatoes, bacon and sausage are already made; he takes the eggs/pancakes/french toast orders to make fresh. we also have mimosas.
after breakfast, everyone piles in the living room to open gifts. this takes awhile as there are so many exchanging. when all is done, girls load up and head to their respective in-laws’ homes. I spend hours cleaning up and putting the house back to rights. Then dh and I go to moms’ for a quiet turkey dinner. dd2 and family usually come too. I sleep as tho’ in a coma Christmas night.

I’m not. My sister got into a huge argument with my parents earlier and storms out of the house with my nephew and I just rear ended someone and smashed up the front end of my car. Everyone ok and my waiting for my dad to come get me but this really stinks and I don’t know how much it will cost to fix

The front end of my car is all smashed up now and i was planning on going shopping on friday, but my car wont be fixed by then and i’m not gonna have the money to go anymore. Merry Christmas to me. This day has been awful.

So sorry Choco, that isn’t good, I have never bumped into anyone but have been hit by others.
The insurance should cover most of the repairs though.

I dont think we’re even involving the insurance. My dad said it would be cheaper if he paid for the repairs for both cars because if the insurance companies got involved than our insurance rate and the other guys insurance rate would go through the roof. The damage isn’t THAT bad, but its enough to ruin my already terrible Christmas. My dad said that i’m gonna have to pay for part of the repairs and i’m getting a nice big paycheck on wendesday and that was supposed to be used for shopping, but i dont know if im gonna be able to go now. The only thing i got for christmas was a little bit of money and some nail polish, so i was really excited to have some money and be able to go shopping and now i can’t even do that.

I was able to pick up my new single vision glasses today, big adjustment for my eyes and brain, lol
I hope the new multi focus glasses come in soon, I am excited to be able to really see again π

My family has been eating cinnamon rolls the past few years for Christmas breakfast. We have also been opening some gifts on Christmas Eve the past few years. My sister and I have had a Playmobil advent calendar for ages. I do not remember when we got it. For Christmas with my moms family for opening gifts we start with the youngest grandchild and work our way up to the oldest grandchild. This year we did youngest grandchild to my grandparents.
