everything on my laptop is GONE!!!!! it was downloading updates when I went to log off last night. Turned it on a bit ago; it installed updates and turned itself off. I turned it back on and it’s like I was never there!!! windows put up their own desktop and side bar. ALL MY STUFF IS GONE!!!! no desktop icons, no pictures, no folders, no Firefox, all my extra spyware programs are gone. Norton(which I pay for) is the only one still there. I’m having a TOTAL MELTDOWN!!!! what do I do???? I looked for the backup thing to reset it to a time previous to everything disappearing, but there’s NOTHING in the back up to go back to!!! seriously, I’m losing it here.

update…I rebooted, nothing; rebooted, poked around some more, did some clicking(what more could it hurt,right?), nothing. Rebooted, and a message showed up saying to run system restore, there was a corrupt something in the most recent update. YA’ THINK???????? it gave me the system restore window and…anyway, I’m back in business. Cute little polar bear is back on the desktop; yahoo messenger popped up, etc. all is right with my immediate world. *sigh*

another message popped up saying ‘system restore did not complete sucessfully. Your compuer’s system files and setting were not changed. An unspecified error occurred during system restore. It suggests running it again.
Now what? everything seems to be back to normal. Also see an alert type thing at the bottom saying ‘Done, but with errors on the page.’ referring to the blog, I guess; the page I ‘loaded’?
Don’t think I’m going to touch another thing today. There are discs and mirrors and ads to deal with. Not going to risk microsoft messing anything else up.

I lost use of a desktop computer and a laptop due to a windows glitch, searched on the net and was a common thing so you’d think they would put a fix in any one of the MANY updates but NOOO
they are just lumps of former technology.. grrr
